Strong Blue Cheese with Rich Stout
(ex. Rogue Chocolate Stout, Left Hand Milk Stout, Oskar Blues Ten Fidy)
Pair blue cheese with something sweet to counterbalance the earthy, spicy flavors. For a truly eye-opening and exciting pairing go for a deep, rich, spicy blue such as Rogue River or Humboldt Fog and pair it with a deep stout beer. The blue cheese causes the sweet chocolaty, coffee-like flavors to open up. It's a perfect after-dinner treat as the temperature outside turns to fall.

Are you a craft beer geek? Craft beer snob Craft beer aficionado? Craft beer trader? Any or all of the above? How do you define these? Do you fit into these categories or do you simply defy categorization?
I'm not sure exactly when or how all of this starts. I know for me, it started back in the day on a trip to the Bahamas. Even back then, I was always searching out something that tasted better than everyday macro brew. It all started for me with imports...fine German beers that had flavor and character that I got exposed to it in the Caribbean early on. It wasn't until later that I learned about brewpubs, craft brews, and home brewing. Then it was off to the races. A trip to Europe, a stint in Texas -- home of Shiner, Celis, St. Arnold, and a few others now -- and my craft beer bug had turned into a giant, 800 lb. gorilla.
So what drives us to this madness? I guess we are all seeking something better than the ordinary, something that we can define our taste by. Some people have style in clothes; some people have style in the car they drive. I've got style in the beer in my hand...craft beer style, that is!
Cheers,
Adam Fine

New Arrivals:

ACROBRAU BREWERIES Zwickl Lager - Traditionally there was only one "zwickl" in the brewery and it was held by the one with the greatest authority ... the Brew Master. So only he could unlock the finest brews, including the unfiltered lager. Naturally cloudy and unfiltered flavor with a crisp finish. 5.2% ABV (bottle only).

BITBURGER
Premium Pilsner - Bitburger guarantees premium quality and enjoyment. Drawing on almost 200 years of expertise, the full-bodied, light Bitburger Premium Beer is of course brewed according to the German Purity Law. Its popular, dry-finished, hoppy taste has secured Bitburger Premium Beer its position as Germany's number one draught beer. 4.8% ABV (draft and bottle).
CISCO BREWERS
Pumple Drumpkin - On Nantucket a Pumple named Drumkin, brewed up some great ale with his pumpkins. One and all came to savor the delicious flavor, then wobbled around quite like bumpkins. At Cisco they thought, "This is De-Lish! Let's make some more because we wish, to please all the tourists, and locals and purists, with the best ale that we can accomplish!" 6.88% ABV (bottle only).
CIGAR CITY BREWING
Good Gourd - This imperial pumpkin ale pours a burnt orange with moderate off-white head. Aroma is butterscotch and pumpkin with a bit of spruce and bread. Flavor has plenty of butterscotch with a minor spruce presence amidst pumpkin pie. 8.5% ABV (draft and bottle).
KOSTRITZER
Schwarzbier - Germany's most popular black beer represents an exceptional beer specialty that is the fruit of a unique combination of the perfect art of brewing and a centuries-old tradition. Brewed according to the German Purity Law of 1516, the original is convincing by its light and sparkling character: Barley malts subjected to special processes give it its distinctive, delicate aroma and extraordinary coloration. 4.8% ABV (draft and bottle).
THEAKSTON BREWERIES
Old Peculier - The beer that made Masham famous, Old Peculier has a character all of its own. It is justifiably famous for its rich and complete character, sheer strength, and long history. The definitive and legendary English Old Ale, it is smooth, dark, and full flavored. Brewed using the traditional Fuggle hop and malted Pearl barley, it exhibits a wonderful, complementary and complex subtle fruitiness, malty chocolate sweetness, and hoppy dryness. 5.7% ABV (bottle only).
XB Ale - Theakston XB is the classic English 'bitter' ale -- full bodied, well balanced, and refreshing. A beautiful, ruby-colored ale with a hoppy start, fruity middle, and dry finish. This exquisite balance between bitterness and fruitiness results from the combination of Bramling Cross and Fuggles hops. This delicious mix, together with the malted Pearl barley, is used to give XB its distinctively complex aroma and palate. 4.6% ABV (bottle only).

NEW PLANET BEER
New Planet Tread Lightly Ale - Tread Lightly Ale is a well-balanced, gluten-free beer made from sorghum, corn extract, orange peel, hops, and yeast. It's a bright and light bodied craft beer with a refreshing taste that doesn't have the after taste of other sorghum-based beers. 5% ABV (bottle only).
New Planet 3R Raspberry Ale - Raspberry Ale is an award-winning ale with the right balance of fruit flavor and aroma. Made from sorghum, corn extract, natural raspberry puree, orange peel, hops, and yeast. Not overly sweet, the Oregon-grown fruit puree creates a beautiful body color with a natural raspberry flavor. 5% ABV (bottle only).
New Planet Off Grid Pale Ale - Off Grid Pale Ale is a wonderful interpretation of the classic pale ale style. It has a distinctly deep amber color with great character and body. Three varieties of hops provide a wonderful aroma and a citrus and spicy hop flavor. STONE BREWING CO.
15th Anniversary Escondidian Imperial Black IPA - This is one beast of a beer. Yes, it is hoppy. Very hoppy. Bittered with Columbus hops, with a late Citra addition, followed by prodigious dry-hopping with Nelson Sauvin and Pacific Jade hops from New Zealand, the beer boasts a fragrant and complex hop aroma. Oily. Piney. Resinous. Black like the inside of a fermentor. 10.8% ABV (draft and bottle).
SUMMIT BREWING CO.
Honey Moon Saison - To celebrate his upcoming nuptials, Summit brewer Sam Doniach created Honeymoon Saison-Batch 07 in the Summit Unchained Series. It's inspired by French saison styles which were traditional farmhouse ales brewed to quench workers on long, hot days. Sam's creation has a refreshing citrus and floral character with hints of apple, pear and spicy, peppery notes. It's brewed with a touch of Minnesota honey as a kettle addition and unfiltered for a smooth, clean finish. 5.3% ABV (bottle only).
Silver Anniversary Ale - hat better way to celebrate 25 years of Summit than with a limited-edition ale inspired by the beer that started it all? This assertively hopped interpretation of our EPA offers up grapefruit, passion fruit and kiwi aromas that lead to a crisp yet well-balanced finish. 6.5% ABV (bottle only).

Auction Sites Become the Bane of Craft Brewers
By: Daniel Fromson, The Washington Post
One Friday in February 2010, hundreds of beer geeks descended upon California's Russian River Brewing Co. to score some Pliny the Younger, an imperial India pale ale that is released just once a year - only on draft. Within eight hours, they had bought all 600 gallons, and within days, 64-ounce growlers were selling on eBay for $150 and up. To thwart profiteers, this year Russian River decided not to fill containers. "The only way it was going to get out of there," co-owner Natalie Cilurzo says, "was in your stomach."
Nonetheless, Cilurzo caught two men trying to smuggle Pliny out of the brew pub, and an eBay listing appeared once again and was removed only after she complained to both eBay and the seller.
Her experience is not unique. The website has become beer's most high-profile black market, a market that is increasingly angering some of the world's best brewers, who consider resale immoral, illegal or just plain insulting.

While walking our dog, my wife, the Beer Widow, and I both made the same observation.
While we waited for the Beer Beagle to do her beagley business near some discarded Bud Light cans, we realized that you never see craft beer bottles or cans littering the roadways. I've never seen a Cigar City Jai Alai bottle, or even a Samuel Adams Boston Lager bottle, lying around. I just see the usual macro stuff.
Why is that?
I'll stop being a beer geek for a moment and become a beer snob. What's the difference? A beer snob is a jerk who judges people based on what beer they drink. A beer snob makes fun of people for not knowing a lot about beer and brewing.
A beer snob would say that the type of people who litter would only drink crappy beer. Craft beer drinkers, besides not being law-breakers who drink while driving, are too refined and classy to litter, right?

Boynton Beach on the Verge of a New Brewery
By: Evan Axelbank, WPTV 5
When it comes to beer, what does South Florida taste like?
Brewers are trying to figure that out as Boynton Beach paves the way for the second craft brewery in the whole county.
When Palm Beach County brewer Mike Halker approached the city last year to apply for the right to build a brewery, they told him their zoning didn't allow for it.
Like any artist, Halker says he experiments.
"Four or five times a week, in really small batches, so we can try this and try that," said Halker.
For now, his laboratory is nothing more than a backyard with some gear for beer. Kettles, strainers and a few taps flowing from a fridge.
"The more I explored these things, the more I thought I could do it better," said Halker.
Soon, the size of his tanks multiplied - by a hundred, and he needed more than paper labels that said Due South Brewing.
He is planning to move his brewery, Due South, into a warehouse near Gateway Blvd.
