Victory Golden Monkey Tripel and a Sheeps Milk Cheese
A dry and salty sheeps milk cheese will pair beautifully with the yeasty spice of the Golden Monkey. The alcohol in the beer will do a good job of cutting through any richness of the cheese.

Terrapin's Rye Pale Ale, Cheese and Grits Soup

Serves: 6Difficulty: Easy/Medium
Pale Ale, Cheese And Grit Soup
This is a deceptively light soup showcasing Terrapin's Rye Pale Ale. The Ale's complex flavor makes this dish far more than a bowl of soupy cheese grits. A true taste of Athens!
Ingredients:
-1 Tablespoon olive oil 1 medium onion, chopped
-2 cloves garlic, minced
-2 Terrapin Rye Pale Ales
-2 cups low-sodium chicken broth
-2 cups reduced-fat milk
-1 cup grits
-7 ounces Dubliner cheese, grated
-4 slices white American cheese, chopped
-1 teaspoon cornstarch
-¼ teaspoon paprika
-¼ teaspoon yellow mustard powder -Pinch cayenne pepper Kosher salt to taste
-1 pound bacon, center cut, cooked and chopped
Directions
1. Heat oil over med-high. Sautee onion until soft. Add garlic and sauté another minute. 2. Add 1 Terrapin Rye Pale Ale, broth, milk and grits. Reduce heat to med-low. Cook until grits thicken. 3. Combine cornstarch and spices with grated cheese tossing to coat. Add cheese to soup in small handfuls melting each batch before adding another. 4. Stir in American cheese until melted. Salt to taste. 5. Finish with ½ Terrapin Rye Pale Ale. Enjoy the remainder while you slowly stir soup and bring back up to temperature. 6. Garnish generously with bacon. Serve with crusty bread and a Terrapin Rye Pale Ale. Enjoy! Serves 6.

Well the weather outside is delightful, and our friends are so insightful, and we've got lot's of places to go.... get some beer, have a cheer, once a year! Ahhhhhh.....Christmas time is here and the shelves are full of all kind's of great winter warmers. And can these brewers get a little more creative with their names....Santa's Butt, Pickled Santa, Bad Elf, Very Bad Elf, Criminally Bad Elf and Reindeer's Revolt. You might think these guys don't like Santa that much at all. But the truth is actually in the bottle...they love Santa...they just want to have a little fun at his expense. This is the time of year that we get to have fun right?!? Another great beer out there that is perfect for the holiday season (but maybe not as funny) is The Bruery's Three French Hens the follow up to last year's Two Turtle Doves. Can you guess what next year's beer will be called? And of course there is Rogue Santa's Private Reserve and Breckenridge Christmas not to mention all the "Winter Beers" out there. So make sure you grab some great Christmas beers to enjoy with your friends and family. Don't forget they make a great last minute present....everyone loves a little beer in their stocking. Have a Safe and Happy Holiday Season. Cheers,Adam FineDirector of Hoperations

DOGFISH HEAD CRAFT BREWED ALES
My Antonia - My Antonia started out as a Collaboration beer when Sam brewed it at Birra del Borgo (hope you can read Italian) outside Rome, Italy with owner/brewer Leonardo DiVencenzo in October of 2008. In 2010, they began brewing My Antonia at Dogfish Head brewery in Delaware for U.S. distribution. My Antonia (named after the Willa Cather read), is a continually-hopped imperial pilsner. This original 2008 batch was brewed and distributed by Birra del Borgo. A small quantity was sent over to the United States. The 2010 release has made it to limited markets here in the U.S.
HIGHLAND BREWING COMPANY
Cold Mountain Winter Ale - Highlands ever-changing spiced winter seasonal. A tasty brew that complements all your holiday festivities. It is typically malty in body, lightly hopped, and rounded out with spices that they vary from year to year
THE BRUERY
Three French Hens - The third in the 12 Days/Years of Christmas Series. They again drew some inspiration from the name and decided that at least a portion of this beer had to be aged in French oak barrels. The Bruery came out with is a bold and spicy Belgian Dark Strong Ale, 25% aged in oak. This beer is designed to take the journey through time until 12 Drummers Drumming, but is a delightful holiday treat right off the shelf
NARRAGANSETT BEER
Porter - This American-style porter has robust malt flavor with a slight hop character. It is brewed with chinook hops for bitterness, simcoe hops for aroma, black malt, pale malt, chocolate malt, munich malt, crystal malt, roasted barley, and ale yeast. Giving it an imperial taste. Gansett Porter offers an extremely approachable craft experience that, unlike many of the other porters on the market, is not overly smoky or bitter. The Narragansett Porter has a deliciously mild chocolate flavor with just a hint of smokiness and hops to balance out the finish.
BRECKENRIDE BREWERY
Christmas Ale - The chill of a Colorado high-country winter calls for a beer with extra flavor and warming characteristics. Here it is. Breck Brew's Christmas Ale. At over 7% alcohol, with a sturdy texture and rich flavors of caramel and chocolate, Breckenridge's holiday seasonal is the fermented equivalent of a good fire. The ultimate winter warmer.
Other returning favorites hitting the shelves:
Terrapin Wake-N-Bake Imperial Oatmeal Coffee Stout, Victory Old Horizontal Barleywine and Shipyard Longfellow

Cigar City Brewery can keep pouring after council voteTAMPA - Cigar City is one of the fastest growing businesses in the Bay Area, thanks to award-winning craft beers, now shipped to half a dozen states and Europe from its Spruce Avenue brewery.Founder Joey Redner says he's been hiring as demand quadrupled production. He's zoned for the brewing, but still some neighbors across the street have fought the tasting room, where folks can sample and buy the brews.
After a lawsuit failed, the neighborhood association complained to City Hall."We just don't need it in the neighborhood," Carver City and Lincoln Gardens Civic Association President Maurice Harvy told FOX 13. "You see the traffic coming in and out; we have issues enough with traffic coming in and out."
Thursday, it came down to a final council vote after Redner and his father, Joe Redner, had barely won the first round on a close vote. This time, only one neighbor showed up, and she was a brewery supporter.
"I met with Mr. Joey, and we set up a plan in the future to hire some African-American people and they would be helping out in the area with events going on for Lincoln Gardens and Carver City," Mabel Smith said.
The vote then was four to three in Cigar City's favor, with all three African-American Council members siding with the neighborhood association, which pulled no punches about Election Day. For full article and video segment.

Could a craft-beer souvenir store fly at Denver International Airport? Reported By Denver Westword
As we report in this week's Off Limits, there's a good explanation why you can't buy growlers of craft beer at Denver International Airport (as you can at the Portland airport, as Jonathan Shikes recently discovered): Colorado law limits the sale of growlers -- those 64-ounce containers that can be refilled -- to the specific brewpub or brewery where the beer is made.
But no such law prohibits the sale of bottles or cans of beer. And since Colorado has more than 120 breweries and some of the best craft beer in the country, what better souvenir for a beer-loving tourist to take home from a visit here than some suds?
If Denver wants to get serious about marketing itself to the rest of the world, it should find a way to peddle its most liquid assets at DIA. To do so, the city just needs some enterprise to get a liquor license and then open a store on a concourse -- past security (where, of course, any liquids would be confiscated).
"We're not aware of any major legal issue preventing a concept like this in Denver," says DIA spokeswoman Jenny Schiavone, "and our concessions group has actually discussed the idea." But before DIA would issue its own request for proposals for such a beery business, it would have to examine whether it would be economically and legally viable. For full article

Holiday Food & Beer Pairings
By: Sam Calagione in The Huffington Post
The holidays are upon us and that means multi-course, epic meals and countless opportunities to flex your beer and food pairing muscles. Ten years ago, hardly anyone was talking about how well the wide array of beers now available compliment different foods but the craft brewing renaissance has changed all of that. Foodies now know that craft beer has all of the distinction, diversity and food compatibility of wine and it has finally made it as an adult this holiday season. Light lager is refreshing and ubiquitous but rarely a great partner for flavor-forward foods. Craft beers have a lot more flavor and diversity. Yup, they will usually have a little higher calorie count then their light lager cousins but holidays are the time to relax and reward yourself. Suck it up and go for a jog or bike ride the next day but life's too short to resist treating yourself when so many great beer options are now available coast to coast.
First off, everyone's palate is different, that's why there are so many different kinds of beers and these suggestions should be taken as just that: suggestions, not mandates. The most sweeping wine analogy I can offer when considering beers to pair with food is this: ales tend to be more fruity and robust, like red wines, so they generally pair with foods in a similar way (e.g., steak, spaghetti & meatballs); lagers are similar to white wines, refined and mellow, so they pair better with more delicate foods (e.g., grilled fish, sushi). New measures target glass attacks in Scotland
Pub landlords could lose their license if they do not switch to using toughened glasses in a bid to eradicate the scourge of beer glass attacks.Police have started using toughened glass testing equipment - called a polariscope - to ensure landlords are complying with a government initiative to encourage the switch.
Some 52 people were glassed in the Strathclyde Police area alone last year while claims for criminal injuries compensation increased by 10% this year. The majority of the claims were for facial scarring.
Justice Secretary Kenny MacAskill visited a Glasgow pub to demonstrate the new equipment.
He also warned landlords that if anyone is seriously injured in future through their failure to introduce toughened glass they could have their licences reviewed.
Mr. MacAskill confirmed that the new Licensing Act enables licensing boards to apply conditions requiring the use of plastic or toughened glass, and he called on the boards to take "tough action" against any premises that flout these conditions. He said: "Everyone in Scotland should be able to live free from the fear of violence and violent crime is now at its lowest level in 26 years. For full article
