Book of the Week

Ravilious in Pictures - A Country Life

Ravilious - CountryWe are delighted that the third in a gorgeous series from Mainstone Press has landed on our shelves.

Ravilious in Pictures - A Country Life highlights Eric Ravilious' time in Essex, reproducing his watercolours of rural places and people.

Focusing his modern sensibilities on traditional rural scenes led Ravilious to create some wonderful paintings, beautifully reproduced here with commentary by James Russell.

Analyzing the artists' techniques and the connections each piece bears to his life, Russell's essays place each painting in fascinating historical and personal context.

The book is uniform in design with its popular predecessors, Sussex and the Downs and The War Paintings
