Charleston Festival Prize Draw

You could win tickets to see Deborah, Dowager Duchess of Devonshire; A.C. Grayling; and Michael Frayn

We're proud to count ourselves as supporters of the Charleston

Debo

Dowager Duchess of Devonshire

Festival, which this year brings together an array of fascinating writers beginning on May 20th.

As usual, several of the events are sold out - and by the time the festival begins tickets will be worth more than a tall stack of hardback books.

But we can help get you in to see some of the most popular events this year.

We're giving away five pairs of tickets each for:

  • Deborah, Dowager Duchess of Devonshire, appearing Sunday 22 May at 2:30pm
  • A.C. Grayling, speaking on Friday 27 May at 8pm
  • Michael Frayn, on Saturday 28 May at 7:30pm.

You can receive an entry form for every 10 you spend at Much Ado (only in-shop sales qualify), and put the each completed form in one of the three prize draw boxes.

You may enter as many times as you like - use all your forms to boost your chances to win tickets for one event, or spread them in all the boxes and hope to win more than once.

We'll hold each draw two weeks before the event.

So you have until early May to stop in, find some books to enjoy, and qualify to win some of the most sought-after tickets in the Charleston festival!

Bookbinding Workshop

10-4 on Saturday, 7 May 2011

Japanese binding

Make your own Japanese-style book

Learn how to make traditional Japanese-style books with Japanese paper pages and flexible covers made from beautifully decorated Chiyogami paper.

You will be taught how to fold the pages and then how to make paper strings, which act as the initial attachment of the pages prior to making the decorative paper covers.

Each book will be sewn with a different, decorative Japanese stitch pattern.

No special skills are needed; beginners are welcome.

The course will be led by Kathy Abbott, an experienced binder and author of Bookbinding: A Step-by-Step Guide.

All materials will be provided. We'll serve an artisan lunch as part of the workshop, which will be held in the Barn at Much Ado. And bookbinders will enjoy a 10% discount on all purchases at Much Ado that day, including Kathy's book.

Tickets cost 65, including VAT.
