Books, Books, Books . . . Today we're introducing a pair of new arrivals, from very different ends of the book spectrum: One is a gorgeous fine press edition signed by Ronald Searle, the other is a childrens' book to delight e-book skeptics and book lovers. And, as an experiment, we're offering you a simple way to purchase the books through a link to an automated, secure payment system - you can use any major charge card, or your Paypal account. We're hoping to learn if our customers prefer this to our website's slightly clunky secure server. We'd love to hear from you about it, pro or con . . .
Oh, and some events . . . This message focuses solely on books (with a note about the Campaign for Real Books, as well). But don't forget that we have scheduled some terrific workshops; we'll send out an e-mail note about them later, but tickets are available now and you can learn about some of them now on our website by clicking here.

Les Tres Riches Heures de Mrs Mole
A new signed limited edition book from Ronald Searle celebrates his love for his wife Monica
|
There is a different kind of Ronald Searle on display in Les Tres Riches Heures de Mrs Mrs Mole - a soft, sweet, loving husband rather than the dry, sardonic and sharp-eyed cartoonist you may be familiar with.
Searle created these watercolors in the 1960s and 70s, in an attempt to cheer his wife ("Mrs. Mole", in their private world) during her cancer treatment. They have been kept private ever since - until now.
Artists' Choice Editions has printed only 156 copies of the book, bringing together high-quality reproductions of all 47 extraordinary, delightful paintings. Each book is signed by both Ronald and Monica, and features short essays by the couple.
Beautifully bound in suede-style leather and presented in a slipcase, the book costs 186. We can post it within the UK - well insured - for 8.85, making the total 194.85.
Thanks to the miracle that is the internet, you can purchase this book right now, using either your credit or debit card or, if you have one, your Paypal account, simply by clicking the button below (it will open your browser to view a page offering a choice of payment options).
Of course, you can also e-mail us to reserve a copy which you can pick up in the shop, or simply stop in to see one - while our limited supply lasts, of course.
Also now available: Signed Prints Artists Choice Editions is raising money for cancer charities by selling a small number of signed prints from Les Tres Riches Heures de Mrs Mole, signed by Ronald and Monica Searle. Each costs 60; insured postage in the UK costs 5.50, making the total 65.50.
We have three of these lovely prints available, each a different image from the book; if you want to order one you may like to call us on 01323 871222 to consult about which image you want. Or you can use the payment button below and we'll choose one for you!
(Overseas customers should e-mail us so we can arrange postage and payment details - simply click here). |
Most Definitely not an e-book!
|
We are smitten with the newest offering from childrens' author Lane Smith, which will delight book-lovers and charm e-book skeptics and will even make e-book lovers laugh.
In this simple tale, a monkey - accompanied by a mouse - introduces a jackass to a remarkable object: You don't blog with it; you don't need to scroll down; you can't text with it, or tweet; it doesn't require a password or a screen name. It's a book. Smith creates delightful characters whose expressive body language supports a funny story, with simple language that quite young children can enjoy. But let's face it - this one is for the e-book skeptics out there! This hardback costs only 10.99. We can post it within the UK for just 3, making the total cost 13.99 You can purchase it now by clicking on this button, which will allow you to use either your charge card or your Paypal account; we'll post the book within a couple of days.
(Of course, you can also stop in the shop to buy your copy, too!)
