Bookseller Humour
We are not in the habit of watching moving pictures on that new-fangled You Tube-thingy. So when a colleague recently suggested we make our computer call up an entertainment, we were skeptical - until the cartoon started playing, that is.
We are pleased to offer this link to an example of bookseller humour. Self-published authors may wish to take notes . . . or look the other way.

You're Invited Join us in Celebrating a New Chapter for Much Ado at an Open House on 23-24 October
|
Work in progress: a corner of the new shop | We are absolutely delighted by our new
premises, from the lamp made of books that will grace our stairway to the Aga warming our
barn.
So we hope you'll be able to join us for an Open House celebration from
noon to 5pm on Saturday and Sunday, 23-24 October.
We'll serve light refreshments, of course, and for
that weekend only both floors of the Barn will be open to the public.
On Display And as a special treat, you'll find a unique display
in the yard - expert carver Keith Pettit will arrange a display of a
traditional, seasonal American folk art.
Of course, we'll also have on display thousands of
books - second-hand treasures we've been storing for this moment; expanded sections
of new books; special fine press books; a fantastic range of Christmas cards
and calendars . . . and more!
|
The Move Begins . . . and Opening Times Shrink
|
With the moving trucks starting to cart thousands of our books The first cartons being carried into our new premises | and bookcases down the road, disruption to our usual business is, alas, unavoidable.
So you'll understand why, in the next few weeks, we may sometimes find ourselves shutting the High Street shop.
We'll try, of course, to maintain some semblance of our usual hours. But you might like to call ahead if you are planning a special trip to see us.
And - although nothing is certain - it looks very much as if we'll be closing the shop to complete our move from Monday 11 October.
We hope you'll agree the result is worth the inconvenience!
