Attendance BOOMS at 2011 Auto Show!

The 2011 International Auto Show opened last week and attendance was way, way up as eager show guests checked out the latest in technology and design offered by any of the 25 makes represented on the show floor.  At the close of the show on Sunday, attendance numbers were up by 61% from 2009, the last show which was open for four full days. This is an improvement Motor Trend hasn't seen at any of their other shows following a weather-related show closing.  Three cheers for Baltimore and our surrounding areas for being automotive enthusiasts!

A primary feature at this year's show was the GM Ride & Drive.  Customers had an opportunity to test drive various models from Chevy, Buick, and GMC. Also popular was the ShiftR expo on the 300 level featuring after market displays and tricked out cars and motorcycles.

Iron Man and Spider Man also made appearances on Family Day and were a huge hit with the kids.

The show generated great media interest and it's of little surprise that the anticipated Chevy Volt was a top attraction for both media and guests.  One lucky couple, Ginger and Roger Roberts, were lucky enough to test drive the Volt while at the show. Words of Thanks and Praise...

As a presenting sponsor of the Maryland Teacher of the Year program, MADA recently supplied each teacher with a poster commemorating the honor and achievement of being named a Maryland Teacher of the Year.  Below are some of the notes we have received from teachers across the state showing their thanks and praise for MADA's commitment to public education!

My name is Tiffany Doster and I am the current Teacher of the Year for Prince George's County Maryland.  I just wanted to thank you for the beautiful poster as it is a wonderful keepsake!  I truly appreciate your kindness and generosity!  I have it displayed in my classroom and my students absolutely love it! Thank you again for thinking of the Teachers of the Year!

I received my Teacher of the Year poster yesterday, and I want to say thanks so much!  It was a lovely surprise, and it will make such a nice keepsake.  Your support of the MD Teacher of the Year program is wonderful.  This has been a fantastic experience, and it's partly due to the generosity of many local Maryland companies who recognize the importance of celebrating public education.

Thank you so much for the Teacher of the Year posters that were delivered to me at my school...what a nice surprise!  This is a great memento for all of us, and I appreciate your generosity.  My 5-year-old daughter Carly loves the poster as well!

George and I had a wonderful evening with the members of the MADA in Annapolis!  It was so nice to get to know everyone and participate in your annual meeting.

We continue to love our Cruze, which now has over 1000 miles on it! Thank you again for your support of the Maryland Teacher of the Year Program!

SBA Launches New Dealer Floor Plan Program

The federal government recently re-launched its suspended floorplan financing program for smalldealerships with loan limits increased to $5 million from the previous $2 millionlimit. Dealers can now begin submitting loan applications for the federally-backed loans. A law enacted in September 2010 increased the loan limits and adopted arule expanding eligibility for the program to the majority of dealerships.

Key Features of the Dealer Floor Plan (DFP):

Size Standards: The applicant can qualify for a DFP line of credit using either the traditional,industry-based size standards (set forth in 13 CFR 121.201) or the alternative size standard. Underthe alternative size standard, SBA will classify a business as small if it, and its affiliates, have botha tangible net worth that does not exceed $15 million and an average net income after Federalincome taxes (excluding any carry-over losses) for the preceding two completed fiscal years that doesnot exceed $5 million.

Minimum Loan Size of $500,000 and Maximum Loan Size of $5 million.

Guarantee: SBA will guarantee 75% on floor plan lines of credit when the lender advances nomore than 100% of the cost (invoice) for new inventory and 100% of the cost or industry basedwholesale book value, whichever is less, for used inventory.

Use of Proceeds: Loan proceeds may be used for the acquisition of titleable inventory for retailsales, to refinance existing floorplan lines of credit with another lender, or to refinance/replaceexisting floor plan lines of credit with the participating lender. Proceeds may also be used to paythe SBA guaranty fee.

Documentation: Delegated floorplan lenders will make use of SBA Express forms and, therefore, be able to utilize, to the maximum extent practicable, their own policies, procedures, internal controls and documentation. Non-delegated lenders will follow the SBA's "standard7(a)" procedures, including the documentation requirements.

Guaranty Purchase: Lenders will be able to request purchase of the guaranty on a DFP line ofcredit in the event of a breach of a financial covenant, a sold out-of-trust (SOT) situation, or an

unremedied adverse change.

Liquidation of the titleable inventory securing the DFP line of credit will be required prior tomaking demand on SBA but the lender will not be required to liquidate all additional businesspersonal property securing the line prior to making demand.
