MADA congratulates Michelle M. Shearer, a chemistry teacher at Urbana High School in Frederick County.  Ms. Shearer was recently named the 2010-2011 Maryland Teacher of the Year.  Twenty-four teachers representing the best from across the state gathered with colleagues, family, friends, and state and federal legislators on October 8, 2010.  Dignitaries in attendance included former U.S. Senator Paul Sarbanes and Congressmen John Sarbanes, Frank Kratovil, and Elijah Cummings. 

MADA Chairman, Sam Weaver, attended and was honored to reward Ms. Shearer keys to her new 2011 Chevy Cruze.  MADA has served as a presenting sponsor of the Maryland Teacher of the Year program for the past eight years.  We are proud to support Maryland's teachers, now ranked #1 in the country for the second year in a row!  We are further pleased to be able to provide the winning teacher a new automobile.
