Norris Acura West and Vehicles for Change Make a Difference
Norris Acura West and Vehicles for Change
recently partnered to provide a much-needed vehicle to a Columbia, Md. mother
of three whose car was stolen in February.
Sharonne Malone, a single mom, couldn't afford to replace the stolen
car, so she's been using public transportation to do almost
everything-including take her young sons to daycare before work. The donation, a 1999 Honda Civic, was donated
by Norris Acura West to Vehicles for Change.
Vehicles for Change refurbished the vehicle and then sold it to Ms.
Malone at a low cost. When presented
with the new keys to the car, Ms. Malone began to cry, "this is my car, my new
car," she exclaimed and then promptly told her three sons to climb in the
back!
VFC provides a 6-month/6,000-mile
warranty with its vehicles and guarantees low-interest,
low-payment loans, allowing recipients to establish
credit while paying for their car. Based in Halethorpe, Md., it operates the largest car ownership program for
low-income families in the nation and is the only organization of its kind in
Maryland. It has awarded more than 3,200
cars and changed approximately 10,000 lives since its inception in 1999.
If your dealership is
interested in participating in this worthwhile and truly life-changing program,
please contact Marty Schwartz at 410-242-9674.

Member Announcement
Chesapeake Petroleum
Acquires Skyline Oil
Chesapeake Petroleum, a distributor of nationally
known brands of motor oils since 1961, whose principal office is in
Gaithersburg, MD, recently announced that it had acquired the business of
Skyline Oil Co.
Tony Santy, the CEO of Chesapeake, commented that,
"with the acquisition of Skyline, we are adding three new brands of motor oil
to our already impressive portfolio of nationally known lubricants. We feel it will ensure that any retail outlet
in our area of distribution interested in giving its customers a quality brand
of motor oil need only deal with one distributor.
Chesapeake is seeking to expand its geography by
acquiring distribution businesses which are compatible with its philosophy of
providing high quality products and services to its customers, and the
acquisition of Skyline will help to further that objective.
David Sunter, the owner of Skyline, a 43-year old
company located in Winchester, VA added, "I am pleased that the business of
Skyline will continue in the hands of Chesapeake and I am confident Skyline
customers will be well served after the acquisition."
