A Close Look At Worry
Dr. Bob Dean
by Pastor Bob Dean

How is it that Satan can wrap a Christian up in little knots or destroy a human being's life with worry? The answer to this question is in the Word of God. Hosea said: "My people are destroyed for lack of knowledge" (Hosea 4:6). A person worries because he or she is either separated from God or ignorant of God's provisions for their life.
Take a close look at the reasons why human beings worry. Finances, health, the uncertainty of life itself, what will tomorrow bring? There are hundreds of reasons why a man or woman worries, and all of them have their foundation in fear of some kind. Fear of loneliness, fear of rejection, fear of lack, fear of death; all of these things take a heavy toll on people's lives every day.
If you can learn to identify Satan and his strongholds in your life, you will be well on your way to whipping worry. Begin to take a look around you and see if there isn't a supernatural push to cause folks to worry, and how they are eaten up with care.
The major thing that worry brings is self centeredness, which is totally contrary to the attributes of love. If worry is a problem then put God back on the throne of your life and quit trying to be the problem solver for every little thing that comes along.
Paul said, "Be careful for nothing, but in everything by prayer and supplication with thanksgiving, let your requests be made known unto God" (Phil. 4:6). We must learn to cast down thoughts that aren't living up to the Word of God. Anything that is contrary to the higher truth of God's Word is a lie. Gird up the loins of your mind by renewing it to the Word of God.
Jesus said, "And ye shall know the truth and the truth shall make you free" (John 8:32). The knowledge of Jesus is the key to victory over worry and care. Your freedom is contingent upon knowing the truth, and it is the truth of God's Word that must be allowed to grow so big on the inside of you that there is no room in your heart or mind for fear or doubt or care.
If you will do this, then when the thoughts of worry approach your mind, your mind will automatically begin to reject them. Your faith in the Word will garrison your mind and you will be ready to do battle to conquer the enemy of your soul.
It is not enough just to cast worry down. You must express the promise that God has declared in his Word. You must tell the Devil and all the demons of hell what it is that you believe. When the thoughts of worry begin to bang against your now "Word-shielded" mind, you rebuke that attack with the spoken Word. You must speak to the mountain with the truth of God's Word and it will crumble before you.
Be relentless in your conquering of worry. Give it no slack. Show no mercy as it has shown you no mercy. The more you do this the faster Satan will see that you are no longer a pushover for care and worried thoughts. All those around you will begin to hear and see your strength as you take charge of your life!

 PROPHETIC WATCH

There are tiers that are about to fall...tiers of man's own working.  The hour for building a machine driven work is about to run its course...the engine of human dependency is slowing losing steam.  What has been manufacturered by man will not be able to run on the highway of God's divine strategies any longer.  All that has been held together by the concept of human performance will ebb away and only that which is propelled by humility and the fear of the Lord will see its way through the cloudy days ahead.  Watch now, and see!
Behold, these are the days when the image of God will be recognized both within and without, and the glory of the Lord shall perform the work thereof.  See now saith the Lord, and know that men will make their plans and all will appear well for a time, but then shall come the sifting and then shall come the shaking, and the pure in spirit will come to see and be seen.  For these are the days when new tiers shall rise to take their place and men shall know what the Holy Ghost knows...and the work shall be done among those who have come out from among the machinery of man and who will be guided by God own hand...

There is nothing in life that is more important than finding the perfect will of God for our lives.  That should be the driving force that motivates us day by day.  The Lord has placed everyone of us on the sea of life with an intended course to sail. Fortunately, he gave us a navigational chart (the Word of God) to help us find our path to his divine purpose.  That is one reason why the Bible tells us that "faith comes by hearing, and hearing by the Word of God" (Rom. 10:17). Not only does the Word define our purpose, but it empower us to discover our destiny!

BECOMING DESTINY MINDED

OPENING THE PORTAL TO YOUR DIVINE PURPOSE

"While we look not at the things which are seen,

but the things which are not seen: for the things

which are seen are temporal; but the things which

are not seen are eternal"

                                                                 2 Corinthians 4:18

The first step toward destiny is for you to surrender your whole life to the will of God. By yielding "everything" to the Lord you empower a God-given ability within to understand his divine purpose. That is where the light of heaven shines into your heart to give you the knowledge of what God's plan is for your life.

Ephesians 4:18 says, "Having the understanding darkened, being alienated from the life of God through the ignorance that is in them, because of the blindness of their heart."   Until we each come to know Christ in a personal way, our minds will be alienated from the things God wants us to see. It will be as if blindness is clouding our spirit.  We will find it very difficult to see the path that will lead us to God's ultimate plan.

Whenever the intellect is darkened to spiritual truth, then it only has one recourse - it must lean on the arm of flesh, and make flesh its strength. "For the natural man receiveth not the things of the Spirit of God: for they are foolishness unto him: neither can he know them, because they are spiritually discerned" (1 Cor. 2:14).  Not only does the natural man live in darkness, but those who refuse to surrender completely to the will of God, they too are blinded by obscurity.

As long as life is contained within the scope of what is strictly natural, where the realm of the spirit is ignored, then spiritual things will not only be indistinct, but they will be undetectable. This is one reason why so much of the activities of church life is driven by human performance.  Men have leaned to their own understanding instead of depending upon the mind of Christ.

When you operate in the mind of Christ you see what God sees. You learn to value what God values. You no longer lives with the idea that it is only about "me" and "mine" but it is all about "his."  In John chapter eight, Jesus said, "I am the light of the world: he that followeth me shall not walk in darkness, but shall have the light of life" (John 8:12).  The key is following him! That is the only way to see clearly and to know accurately.  When you choose to walk by the light of life you will see the path that God has destined for you to take.

Hebrews 11:1 says, "Faith is the substance of things hoped for, the evidence of things not seen." Once you make that connection and start to see into the spiritual realm, then you have to let faith navigate you through the twists and turns that are ultimately going to show up.  That is the first step. You start by letting the light of God open the door to your destiny. Then through faith you learn how to process the journey.

Everything about finding what is out there for you is determined by the level of your pursuit. You have to set goals. You have to become motivated to do things God's way and not depend upon how easy or how safe it appears.  There are many paths that God takes us on that are not always clearly marked, and that is where we must learn to take hold of faith.  It is faith that becomes your empowerment toward destiny.  Don't let the machinery of man propel you. Let faith in the unseen hand of God propel you!  Make up your mind that if God doesn't take hold with you, then you're taking your hands off it!  Too often the pride of man wants to keep holding on to something that God has clearly said, "let go of!"  That was one of the grave faults of the Pharisees.  They wouldn't let go of things that God had long past abandoned. They made up their mind that they were going to fuel their own purposes, and stoke the fire with their own agenda. Never mind what God wanted!  But they unwillingness to surrender caused their fire to surely burn out! My friend, be assured of this one thing...the engines of heaven cannot and will not "ever" be fueled by the works of the flesh.  The Bible is explicit that "no flesh shall glory in his presence" and that "Without faith it is IMPOSSIBLE to please God!" (1 Cor. 1:29; Heb 11:6).

Faith is the only thing that has the ability to move you toward your destiny. Jesus said, "The Son can do nothing of himself, but what he seeth the Father do; for what things soever he doeth, these also doeth the Son likewise" (John 5:19).  When you surrender to the will of God, then you can begin to see what the Father is up to.  You won't be just spinning your wheel, per se.

I'm here to tell you that the things of God are attainable, but they must be reached by living a devoted life, a surrendered life, a life of faith. Think of it this way: A surrendered life opens the portal to destiny and faith becomes the empowerment to step through and pursuit it. As long as you live on this lower stratum of life, where your mind is confined to the scope of what you physically see and feel, then you will never know the full depth of God's divine destiny for your life. You must become a person of faith if you want to soar above the heights of natural things.  That is the only course that will enable you  to embrace the supernatural.

Jeremiah 29:11 says, "For I know the thoughts that I think of you, saith the Lord, thoughts of peace, and not of evil, to give you an expected end." The Amplified Bible says: "To give you hope in your final outcome."

God is not holding back or trying to keep you from seeing all that he has planned for your life.  When you decide to walk by faith the Holy Spirit will be there to guide your every step. He can take you to places you never thought you could ever go. There is nothing in life that is more important than finding the perfect will of God. That should be the driving force that motivates you every day.

With your compass of faith and the fair winds of the Holy Spirit you can reach your destination. It is my prayer that as you embark upon the high seas of life you will allow your faith to take hold of a fresh commitment in following after God's will and his way of doing everything he has set before you.

As you travel along life's journey, never lose sight of your God-given dreams, because hidden within each turn are signposts that will usher you into the safe haven of destiny.

PRAYER

Father, thank you for loving me enough that you have made a way for me to find my true purpose in life. And thank you for the Holy Spirit who enlightens my spirit so that I can discover things that are in that spiritual realm - that are very real and attainable. I ask you to guide my steps and lead me into my divine destiny. Open up the portal to your divine purpose for my life, where through your mighty hand upon my life, I can run and run well in doing your perfect will. In Jesus' name, Amen.

CONFESSION

Today, I will exercise my faith in the unseen realm. I choose to see things that I know in my spirit God has appointed for me to do. I refuse to doubt what I know belong to me, and I will see them come to pass in my life. Everything that I am to do on this earth, I will accomplish. I will not leave this world with my destiny wanting! I will finish my course, in Jesus' name.

DEFINING MOMENTS...

Time is a very precious gift. Every moment that passes by should serve as a reminder of how close we are to eternity. One day (and none of us know for sure how soon that day will be) we will have to give an account for our life. Once we cross over there is no turning back.   That is why it is imperative to value the time we have, and make the most of every opportunities to discover God's will for our life. James said, "What is your life? It is even a vapor, that appeareth for a little time, and then vanisheth away" (James 4:14). Time is not always going to be available to work out the things we need to do. So it is needful that we seek to recover moments we let slip through our hands. What we hold in this very moment is critical. We must becoming destiny minded so that we are not running in vain nor laboring in vain. Seize this moment by doing everything you can to put yourself in the center of God's will.  Your destiny and the destiny of others may very well depend upon it!
