Reflections of God's Word - Pastor Betty

Romans 12:2

Wuest Transtaion

"Stop assuming an outward expression that does not come from within you and is not representative of what you are in your inner being, but is patterned after this age; but change your outward expression to one that comes from within and is representative of your inner being by the renewing of your minds."

Greetings!

     Pastor Betty

At Faith Harvest, it is our normal policy

to take a few minutes and teach before

we receive our offerings.  I call it a mini-sermon, and God has always been

faithful to bless us with some wonderful

truths out of his Word.  This past Sunday,

I did a takeoff from something ministered

out by one of our Bible School instructors and associate ministers here at Faith Harvest.  I believe it was a "Now" word, because as she began to teach it out, God began to quicken something in me that took hold of my spirit, and I want to share some of that with you.

BEING BENEFICIARIES OF THE BENEFACTOR

LEARNING HOW TO OPERATE OUT OF A RENEWED MIND

Lord Oh my soul and forget not all his benefits

                                                                                        - Psalm 103:1-2

One of the most important things we need to learn is that when God begins to quicken us with something, we have to take hold of it and be quick to move on it.  In other words, we have to take to heart to move on what's on his heart, because a quickening involves being aroused or invigorated with life. That's how and where the increase comes.  John wrote in his third epistle, "Beloved, I wish above all things that thou mayest prosper and be in health, even as thy soul prospereth" (3 John 2).  Part of being a beneficiary is to know that you have received benefits appointed to you by a benefactor. Jesus is our benefactor.  He has provided everything we need. But John gives us insight into how we receive the benefits, or should I say how we receive the increase of life, whether it is in our finances or in our health.  He said it comes even as our soul prospers, which the words "even as" means in proportion to or by degree.

Over in Romans twelve, Paul talks about the need to renew our minds, which has to do with transforming our soul.  This process of transforming our mind or our soul has to come from within our spirit.  Transformation deals with internal issues.  Remember, Solomon wrote, in Proverbs four, "Keep thy heart with all diligence, for out of it flow the issues of life" (Pro. 4:23).  The issues of life are God's thoughts and his ways that are quickened to us by the Holy Spirit.  Everything that is of God has been deposited in our spirit. As we take hold of the quickened Word, we are drawing out of this depository things that pertain to life!

If I had to render what Paul is saying in my own words, it would read like this: "Get out of your own mindsets, and get over into God's mindset!"  Philippians two says, "Let this mind be in you, which was also in Christ Jesus" (Phil 2:5).  If you go back to the ministry of Jesus, you will discover how Jesus' mind worked.  He was tapped into the mind of God.  He said, "I only do those things that I see my Father do" (John 5:19).  When he needed money to pay the taxes that were due, he had the mind of God to get it, and he got it.  When he needed to know how to minister healing to someone, he knew on the inside what to do and the healing power of God immediately issued out of him.   He became acquainted with that river on the inside of him because he had a mind for it.

First Corinthians two says, "For who hath known the mind of the Lord, that he may instruct him? But we have the mind of Christ" (1 Cor. 2:16).  We don't instruct the mind of Christ. The mind of Christ is going to instruct us!  He is the one who instructs us on how to tap into God's mind so that we can flow with him and receive the benefits of heaven.   Over in Romans chapter eight, verses 26 and 27. He shows us how we receive his thoughts - it's through the Holy Ghost.  You have to have the Holy Ghost's instructions, and that is where this quickening comes into operation.  The quickening "is" your instructions.  When you act on what he is quickening in you, you are acting out of the mind of Christ.  The more you allow your mind to think and act out of this quickening, then the more the benefits of heaven are going to come to pass in your life.  A prosperous soul is a mind that knows what the Holy Spirit is up to!  See, the Bible says, "No eye has seen, no ear has heard, neither has it entered into the heart of man the things that God has prepared for them that love him" (1 Cor 2:9).  But then he adds, "But God has revealed them to us by his Spirit" (verse 10).  The Spirit knows!  He knows how to get you where he wants you to go!  He knows what it takes for you to prosper and be in health!

The things of heaven belong to us.  We are the beneficiaries of everything that Christ wrought for us in his death, burial, resurrection. Paul even stated in Ephesians chapter one, "Blessed be the God and Father of our Lord Jesus Christ who hath (already a done deal) blessed us with all spiritual blessings in heavenly places in Christ" (Eph. 1:3).  But see, what we fail many times to realize is that this word "SPIRITUAL" is the Greek word PNEUMATIKOS, which means things pertaining to and of the Holy Ghost!  From heaven's standpoint all the benefits are ours.  They have been appointed to us by the benefactor, but we must learn how to live out of this quickening of the Holy Spirit - because that is where the life principle of heaven issues forth what we have need of!

PRAYER

Father, I ask that you help me, through the power of the Holy Spirit, to understand what it really means to experience the mindset of God. I lay down my thoughts and pick up yours, through your eternal Word. Thank you for all your benefits that you have bestowed upon me.

CONFESSION

From this day forward, I will set my mind on the reality of all the Word declares that is mine to walk in, supernaturally. I will give the Word of God and the Holy Spirit first place, so that the mind of Christ has preeminence in my life. I will move quickly on the Holy Spirit's quickenings. I will seek to be the God-man/God-woman that you have made me to be, at all cost. This will not only benefit me, but all that is around me.

DEFINING MOMENTS...

We must have the mindset of God to cancel out the mind of reasoning. Reasoning can't take hold of anything beyond itself. It caps the supernatural from flowing in order to bring manifestations of the Holy Ghost into being. That's why it is so vital that we move quickly when we are quickened. If the Holy Ghost quickens you in the Word, then move on it and go deeper. Search out everything you can on the quickening. It is where the life flow is. It is how the mind is renewed and transformation takes place.

A good example is like an old fashioned percolator and how it works to make coffee. The basket is like your mind. The coffee granules are the Word. The water is that quickening that comes up out of your spirit. There can be no quickening until you plug into the power, which is the Holy Spirit. If you will learn to live out of that quickening, you will be able to enjoy the benefits that are in Christ. It's like having a fresh cup of coffee.  But if you don't live out of that quickening, then the benefits stay dormant in you.

That's how mind renewal works. When your spirit is plugged into the flow of the Holy Spirit, then that life flows upward into your mind, producing the mind of Christ. That is when the supernatural begins to issue out where you taste and see that the Lord is good!
