The first step toward destiny is for you to surrender your life to God. By coming to the Lord you empower your own ability to understand his divine purpose. That is how the light of heaven shines into your heart to give you the knowledge of what God's plan is for your life.
Ephesians 4:18 says, "Having the understanding darkened, being alienated from the life of God through the ignorance that is in them, because of the blindness of their heart."
Until we each come to know Christ in a personal way our minds will be alienated from the things God wants us to see. It is as if blindness is covering our spirit. That blindness will keep us from grasping God's ultimate plan.
Whenever the intellect is darkened to spiritual realities then it has no way of knowing the steps to take in order to find true destiny. "For the natural man receiveth not the things of the Spirit of God: for they are foolishness unto him: neither can he know them, because they are spiritually discerned" (1 Corinthians 2:14).
Sometimes the things of God can appear to make very little sense to the natural mind. Only through a personal devotion can they become clear enough to discover the secrets of divine things.
As long as life is contained within the scope of what is strictly natural, where the realm of the spirit is ignored, then spiritual things will not only be indistinct, but they will seem foolish and far-fetched. "But he that is spiritual judgeth all things. For who hath known the mind of the Lord, that he may instruct him? But we have the mind of Christ" (verse 15-16).
To have the mind of Christ enables you to see what God sees. It is like coming into an understanding of spiritual things where the divine purposes of God are revealed. In John chapter eight, Jesus said,"I am the light of the world: he that followeth me shall not walk in darkness, but shall have the light of life" (John 8:12). He also said, "I have come that you might have life and that you might have it more abundantly" (John 10:10). Spiritual realities are discovered by walking in the light of life. The more of that life you experience the easier it is to see the path that God has destined for you to take.
Hebrews 11:1 says, "Faith is the substance of things hoped for, the evidence of things not seen." Once you make that connection and see the purpose of God for your life, then you have to let faith navigate you through the twists and turns that are ultimately going to show up.
That is the first step. You start by letting the light of God open the door to your destiny. Then through faith you learn how to process the journey.
Everything about finding what is out there for you is determined by the level of your pursuit. You have to set goals. You have to become motivated to discover what God has purposed for you to do for him. That is where faith takes hold of your life. It is faith that becomes your empowerment toward destiny. Faith has the ability to move you toward doing the will of God just as it moved Jesus to carry out his purpose. It was his faith in what he saw that empowered him to get where he needed to be to finish his course. He told the Pharisees, "The Son can do nothing of himself, but what he seeth the Father do; for what things soever he doeth, these also doeth the Son likewise" (John 5:19). That is the power of living by the light of life. It enables you to see what the Father is doing, and then it is just a matter of walking it out.
The things of God are attainable, but they must be reached by living a life of faith. Think of it this way: Life opens the portal to destiny and faith becomes the empowerment to pursuit it. As long as we live on this lower stratum of life where our minds are confined to the scope of what we physically see and feel, then we will never know the greater meaning to life. We have to use faith to soar above the heights of natural things to embrace supernatural things.
Jeremiah 29:11 says, "For I know the thoughts that I think of you, saith the Lord, thoughts of peace, and not of evil, to give you an expected end." The Amplified Bible says: "To give you hope in your final outcome."
When you decide to walk by faith the Holy Spirit will be there to guide your steps. He can take you to places you never thought you could ever go. There is nothing in life that is more important than finding the perfect will of God. That should be the driving force that motivates you every day.
With your compass of faith and the fair winds of the Holy Spirit you can reach your destination. It is my prayer that as you embark upon the high seas of life you will allow your faith to take hold of a fresh commitment in following after God's eternal plan and purpose.
As you travel along life's journey, never lose sight of your God-given dreams, because hidden within each turn are signposts that will usher you into the safe haven of destiny. |
