Greetings!
Among your kind responses to last week's eFlourishing, one was particularly noteworthy. So noteworthy, in fact, that we've invited that respondent, Jack Schultz, to speak at our 11th Annual Thanksgiving Banquet in November. You may remember that we brought Jack to Winfield for our Thanksgiving Banquet in 2004, and he also addressed the Cowley Economic Development Forum, while he was in town.
Jack is the author of Boomtown USA: The 7 ½ Keys to Success in Small Towns. His research on small town economics has been featured in USA Today, Forbes, and Business Week, among numerous other publications. Jack has also been a guest on many radio and television programs including Bloomberg Business Television.
Jack began his public speaking career shortly after Boomtown USA was published in February 2004. He has since spoken to over 400 communities in 44 states, traveling over 200,000 miles. Jack became known as a national expert in economic development and was a sought-after speaker on the topics of building up small town economic capacity, revitalizing small towns, and on the 7 ½ keys to becoming a Boomtown.
Jack is also the founder and CEO of Agracel, Inc., an industrial development firm majoring in rural America. Agracel began in 1986 and birthed its first development project in 1993. Since then Agracel has completed projects in 14 states and now owns over six million square feet of industrial space. Agracel has facilitated the creation of over 5,000 jobs in small towns. Agracel also owns fifteen business parks and a short line railroad. In 2005, Jack was named Ernst and Young's Illinois Entrepreneur of the Year.
Jack has since retired from the speaking tour, so we feel honored that he's accepted our invitation to return to Cowley County. Details are still being worked out, and we'll keep you posted. Until next week,
PATIENCE, DISCIPLINE, and CONFIDENCE, in the FUTURE! mh
