National Director on the Move This past month has been a busy one, as we're sure it's been for you too. So in this issue we want to follow up on the happenings of the CCI/Canada office, the National Director, and of course our members. Derrick Mueller has be on the road. He traveled through Ontario in June and Alberta in July meeting camp directors, cooks & staff, seeing facilities & programs. He then traveled to Australia and New Zealand for August where he was able to speak at 2 conferences, meet camp professionals and business people. He now heads to Atlantic Canada in September. The next few months will continue to be busy for our camp members as they follow up with their campers and in that light we thank ZuCamp for coming on as the sponsor of this issue. Be sure to check them out. We are continuing to update the website, signing up new camp members and biz members, preparing for National Conference, ELI 2011, the upcoming Australian Exchange, preparing the new directory, as well as researching and initiating a buying group that will become a HUGE asset to CCI/Canada and our members in the near future. |

Camp Follow up Materials
As camp comes to a close, follow up of campers becomes in many cases the next agenda item. The task can be a little harder than it seems with privacy becoming more and more an issue. Follow up can be as simple as birthday or Christmas card sent to weekly bible studies or weekly programming. Identify as a team what type of follow up you will do and then assess what tools are available. Be realistic in what you can do. The key in all cases is to fulfill your mission statement. There are resources out there that can help also. This year one of our Biz partners Zu camp has agreed to offer as an introduction their new online follow up material free to our members! Also there is the David and Jonathon program that has been used by many camps across Canada that may be of interest. |

CCI/Canada Booth at Argos Game (ON) - October 2, 2010
In 2009, the Argonauts hosted the biggest faith-based, post-game event in the CFL and one of the largest in professional sport. On November 7, 2009, over 4,000 fans were able to walk onto the turf at Rogers Centre after the Argonauts home game. They were treated to an unforgettable concert and inspiring talk from Canadian Football Hall of Famer Michael "Pinball" Clemons. In 2010, the Real Deal promises to be bigger and better! Join CCI Canada at the game: we have a hundred tickets and booth space at the game. We want to market your camp to the public so send us your materials or even better yet join us at the booth. Free Tickets available from the CCI/Canada office. The Real Deal will take place on Saturday, October 2, 2010: kick off at 3 p.m. Please contact us and/or send us info for the booth. |
Insights and Observations on Camping Across Canada Camps are being forced to re-examine, re-define and re-align themselves with the realities of ministry in today's culture. For some it is going from a summer camp to a year round conference center. To others it is changing their model of camp to meet different needs, and to others it is re-inventing who they are and developing a new purpose. The result in all cases is change and that change comes with it's hurdles and its pains. National Director Derrick Mueller has observed over the last year 20 changes or trends that are taking place in Christian camping. Check out the article |

CCI/Canada National Conference
Looking for ways to justify going to conference this year? Here are 5 reasons given by a Director in Atlantic Canada:
1) Learning - Your own development as a leader significantly affects how the greater organization develops. The conference is set up to nourish you personally, as well as develop your skills in organizational mission, behaviour, management and more. (2) Context - The conference is specifically for Camp Leaders. There is little wondering "How will I apply this to our camp?" Presenters are prepared for - and very, very good at - making it applicable. (3) Networking - You meet other people who share a common mission and similar struggles. Sharing ideas is incredibly powerful, and at the conference it is hard to miss these opportunities. Plus all the businesses represented are there to help you accomplish your camp's mission. (4) Fellowship - We are reminded that we are not alone in what we do. We are a part of a bigger picture, a larger group and an even greater movement. It brings into focus the work of God that we are a part of, being better together. (5) Refreshment - Fun is important! Being in Florida is refreshing! Not only will the setting energize you personally, you will come away from the conference with a renewed passion and hopefulness about the future and of what God will do next.
Last note about this year's event: We are also still booking Sponsors and Exhibitors - We have 4 more spaces at special member pricing so let us know if there is a company you really want to see there or you can forward the Sponsor/Exhibitor Info on to them. |
We want you to know that we are praying for our camp members who are bringing this summer season to a close, beginning to reflect, evaluate and plan for 2011. Our vision continues to be that CCI/Canada is an indispensible resource to camps and conference centers across the country. It is our sincere desire that we bear fruit for the Kingdom and may our Lord be glorified as a result.
In His Grip,
CCI/Canada Staff
