News From CCCC Disbursement Quota Reform for Charities
The federal budget released on March 4, 2010, contained a significant reform which will affect all registered Canadian charities.
Highlights Of greatest impact to the majority of charities is the elimination of the 80% disbursement quota (DQ). This requirement imposed an obligation on charities to spend in the current year, 80% of the previous year's receipted revenue plus gifts from other registered Canadian charities.
Charities will still be required to disburse a minimum of 3.5% of property held but not used in charitable activity or administration. The capital accumulation threshold has been increased from $25,000 to $100,000 for charitable organizations. The exemption remains at $25,000 for charitable foundations. Effective Date of Change The reformed disbursement quota rules apply to charities for fiscal years ending on or after March 4, 2010. For example, a charity with a year end of March 31, 2010, will only be required to calculate the 3.5% disbursement quota, if applicable. Whereas, a charity with a year end of December 31, 2009, will still be required to calculate and report the full disbursement quota requirements, including the 80% calculation

Greetings!
February and March are great reminders to me of how important our regional and national meetings are. They are a time of connecting with family, renewing friendships, being inspired, challenged and energized. It is one of the great values of CCI in Canada. I have heard that it is often the informal talks after sessions and seminars where much is learned. I believe that God gave us His word and each other for encouragement. My theme for this year has been "Better Together" and if our regional meetings are any indication then I believe that our coming together is one of the greatest opportunities we have as a membership.
I am really excited about how the National Conference committee under the direction of Steve Archibald has been coming together. Pray for the committee as they seek to develop our national time together as one of best times yet. We have kept the cost down and even less than our last one and over and above the amazing spouse rate, we have a Fantastic Early Bird Price. We want to see as many people come as possible. If finances are an issue apply for our special conference bursary. We want everyone who wants to be there to come. National Conference is a great training, getaway and hoopla event for all in the CCI family.
The CCI/Canada office is on the move!
Within the next month, the CCI Canada national office will be re-locating to the Kitchener/Waterloo area of Ontario, to bring on-site support to myself as the National Director, and better serve you, our membership. In the interim, all contact info for the CCI/Canada office will remain the same. We have been interviewing potential cadidates to fill the Administrative support position in our new location. Please pray that God would lead us to His choice for this key position.
We are grateful for the years that Bev Offner has served as office administrator for CCI. Bev will help to facilitate a smooth transition to the new office and new staff, before moving to a full-time ministry role with Muskoka Bible Centre.
