- What type of ethnic food dominated the Club's menu in its early days?
- What appeared briefly on the facade of the Club in the early 1950s -- only to disappear, never to be seen again?
- The living room, or front parlor, of the Club held many secrets of its past. One particular piece of furniture had been quite popular in its day, but sat idle in the years leading to the Club's closing. What was it?

| | | | CALLING ALL PERFORMERS!
Besides the March show in collaboration with AEA: "Inspiration in Motion", The RC has been asked to participate in an April Leukemia Benefit for a producer who uses Broadway performers. In addition, RC member Wendy Hellyer, who has a performing arts center in Pennsylvania, is exploring the possibility of doing a combined cabaret benefit for the RC Documentary and a local arts group. It would be done in New Hope in the Spring. We want a list of RC Members who wish to perform in these and future shows. If you are interested in performing, contact leekelley@ontheworldstage.com

PR KIT
Armed with hardcopies of the PR Kit, Johanna Brewer (D.C. area) and Betty Galvano (FL) have gotten our first media stories! Johanna got us a print article and has lined up two radio interviews. Betty has just done an interview with a Florida reporter who had previously done an article about her. She says that the reporter really liked the RC PR Kit and was particularly excited about the show we are doing in March. We want stories all over the country. Anyone else out there who can get us to the press, contact leekelley@ontheworldstage.comfor a hardcopy of the PR Kit. We are working on an electronic version of the Kit which should be ready soon. | |

Those in the New York City area who are interested in becoming spokeswomen will be invited to an orientation session. Those outside the City will be given instruction through email. Letter From Lee

Suddenly the Holidays are upon us again. May yours be light-hearted: filled with family, friends and fun. As 2011 ends, the RC enters the final stretch toward our Centennial and we are gathering speed.
THINGS ARE HAPPENING!
Last month, the first cut of our documentary trailer was greeted with enthusiasm and, of course, nostalgia when it was viewed at a Steering Committee meeting. Then there is our PR campaign. After all the effort putting our PR Kit together, our first media stories have been published and radio shows are being scheduled. Exciting performance opportunities are coming our way and the Centennial Reunion is now in the first planning stage. And that is just some of what we are doing!
Time to get involved. "Before the parade passes by..."

"Union Women At Work: Inspiration in Motion" |
What a difference a couple of months can make!
This summer we were trying to figure a way to showcase Charlie's 3 new songs without $$$ and then lo & behold, our proposal to Equity's Equal Employment Opportunity Committee is approved and we are moving forward on producing a fully-realized production for Women's History Month, March, 2012.
The focus is fashioned as a "teaser" kick-off to Equity's Centennial -- which is also ours -- and in doing research, we found out the Ziegfeld Follies ALSO opened at the New Amsterdam in 1913! Now, with six original Ziegfeld Follies costumes to work with and talent from The Episcopal Actors Guild, the Ziegfeld Club, the Rehearsal Club and other Equity greats, we've got ourselves a dandy little show.
Mark your calendars to be in New York in March. We will continue to keep everyone posted as we solidify dates and other production logistics. If you are a singer, based in NY (or can plan to be here for put-in rehearsals & performance) and want to share your talent with us, reply to this e-mail to contact Denise Pence, Producer.
Hope to see you there!

Documentary Trailer | |
The first cut of The Rehearsal Club trailer was viewed by the Steering Committee meeting last month. The reaction was terrific! It featured interviews of Phyllis Creore Westermann, Lenka Peterson and Alice Middleton Anderson, contributed by Rick McKay of Second Act Productions, plus black and white photos and articles of life at the Club. Over the pictures, Phyllis was singing her song "This is My Wish" and "I wish tonight, wherever you may be, when stars come out you stop and wish with me." Just beautiful!
The trailer was put together for the RC by Lucy Bruell's office. The next cut will add an opening and extend the pictures to include Carol Burnett and the stars of the 60s and 70s. The finished trailer will run about 3 minutes. |

MIRACLE MANIFESTED!
Centennial Book Projects - Target 2013
| |
WE DID IT!
Twenty-four writers, spanning four decades and we've got ourselves a book, "Cinderellas of West 53rd Street."
Julie Tibbott, our Editor, did a bang-up job; our Officers weighed in with some final edits & ideas, and our literary agent is in the process of reading the final manuscript. Her words from the last newsletter keep ringing in my ears: "This cannot be a collection of tributes, but a book about a special time and place told by the people who were there, in the best oral history tradition." We'll know soon whether she feels our work warrants what she needs to sell us. Just keep the faith.
Other RC Alum have asked if it's "too late" to get into the book. I'm hoping once we find a publisher, no, it won't be too late.
My advice? Write your story.

Kathy Vestuto - In Her Own Words
"I'm pleased with the way it's progressing."
(That's all I could get out of her at this time). Good to know she's still working it! We are gonna have a Rehearsal Club blizzard of creativity out there by 2013! |
