Are you new to Farmington?  If so, please watch your mailbox this coming week.  This month we are initiating a new event in Farmington; we are hosting a get-to-gather for new comers to Farmington.  Every quarter, our utilities department has about 225 new households and each household represents about 2.5 people, so we have a lot of new people coming into town every year.  This event is a way of helping these new people feel more at home here and understand what is available in and around Farmington.  We will be hosting these events once each quarter.

Did you send in your US Census form?  If not, please take a few minutes to fill this simple questionnaire out and return it to the Census Bureau.  With all the controversy about events in Washington there is a natural tendency to balk at anything that comes from the Federal Government, but this is something that has a great affect on all of us here on the local level.  Census records are used to determine how many Representatives we get, and what grants and incentives are available to us.  Down through the years in Farmington we have used these things to great advantage, and it all depends on an accurate count.  Do something good for yourself today... send in your census form.
City Administrator's Report

City Administrator Greg Beavers

The City of Farmington recently received its audit report for the fiscal year that ended on September 30, 2009 and I am pleased to report that the City is in excellent financial condition. Unrestricted cash reserves at the end of 2009 was $8.5M and total of all assets grew to $64.5M during the fiscal year. The city council and staff have been diligent in our efforts to manage city resources in a manner that ensures that we can continue to deliver quality public services in a period of stable or declining revenues. It is our belief that sound management of public resources is the principal function of local government, and we remain committed to that objective.
