Celebrate Safely with Fireworks Safety
The Township of Moon's Chief of Police, Leo McCarthy, reminds residents to celebrate safely this Independence Day. Consumer and display fireworks are illegal to use in the state of Pennsylvania without a permit. The only types of fireworks permissible are those defined as "ground and hand-held sparkling devices", "novelties", and "toy caps". He also reminds residents of the extraordinarily dry conditions that easily enable fires and brush fires as the result of improper fireworks use. Serious injuries can result from improper use of fireworks.

Historic Mooncrest Photos Needed
The Township of Moon Historical Architectural Review Board (HARB) is looking for historical photos of the Mooncrest area. The photos will be used in the application process to place Mooncrest Historic District on the National Register.
The successful benefits of a nomination to the National Register can bring planning benefits, tax breaks and incentives for building upgrades and efforts to revitalize the neighborhood. The ultimate goals are to expose historic preservation to the students, give Moon residents access to a history publication of the significance of the Mooncrest Community, and to have Mooncrest residence gain community pride from highlighting the community's historic significance.
If you have a historical item or photo to display and are willing to loan them to the Township contact Charlie Belgie at 412-262-5004 or Lora Dombrowski at 412-262-1700.
