| Supervisors Meeting Available Online | Moon Township Board of Supervisors awarded the bid for the Community Service Center HVAC and roof replacement projects. The projects are expected to take place midsummer through the end of August.
- HVAC replacement project awarded to Professional Mechanical Sales and Service Inc. of Cheswick, PA for the amount of $196,855.
- Roof replacement project awarded to Ramp Construction Company, Inc. of Canonsburg, PA for the amount of $185,400.

| Moon Supervisors and Staff Support the 911th |  Moon Township Board of Supervisors and Moon Township staff showed their support for the 911th Airlift Wing and the 171st Air Refueling Wing by wearing "Save the 911th" t-shirts during their regular meeting on June 6, 2012. T-shirts are available for purchase at the Federal Credit Union, Pittsburgh Airport Area Chamber of Commerce, and the Moon Township Municipal building. T-shirts are $10, and are available in red or blue. |
| Public Hearing Notice - July Meeting | |
Moon Township Board of Supervisors will hold a public hearing at their meeting on Monday, July 2 at 7 p.m. on the consideration of the adoption of a proposed ordinance regarding the decision of the Township zoning map to change the zoning district designation of property owned by Arthur D. Tarquinio and Rose E. Tarquinio located at the intersection of Coraopolis Heights Road and Beaver Grade Road. A Complete copy of the proposed ordinance is on file and may be examined by the public at the Moon Township Municipal Building.

| Comprehensive Plan Meeting |
The goal of Moon Township's Comprehensive Plan is to analyze where we are now, where do we want to be, and how do we get there over the next 20 years with the ultimate goal of a truly sustainable community. The Commonwealth of Pennsylvania requires that comprehensive plans be updated every 10 years. Moon Township invites all residents and business owners to attend the following Comprehensive Plan Committee Meetings on Wednesday, June 12 and Wednesday, July 11 at 5:30 p.m. in the Moon Township Municipal Building at 1000 Beaver Grade Road.

The Moon Township Planning Commission encourages questions and feedback as the comprehensive plan reaches its final stages. Once the Comprehensive Plan Committee Meeting is held in July, the plan will be thoroughly reviewed as it moves forward into the public hearing and adoption phase with the Moon Township Planning Commission and Board of Supervisors in the fall of 2012.

| 9/11 Memorial Garden Bench Dedication |
The Township of Moon welcomes the newest addition to the 9/11 Memorial Garden. Three engraved limestone benches were unveiled at a 9/11 Memorial Bench Dedication on Wednesday, May 30, 2012. The Township recognized three companies that each made a monetary donation to fund an honorary bench: NOVA Chemicals, Clearview Federal Credit Union, and 1st Out Specialty Vehicles and Equipment. Inscribed on each bench is a message honoring one of the Memorial Garden's three focal points: public safety professionals, military service members, and those involved in September 11, 2001. The honorary message is engraved on the seat of the bench with the name of the bench's donor engraved on the front of the seat. Take a moment and visit the Memorial Garden to see the honorary benches surrounding the steel artifact from the World Trade Center. The Township of Moon is thankful for the continuous support of the community to enhance the Memorial Garden as a place of remembrance for those who serve and have served our community and our country.

| Recycling Guidelines |
Pennsylvania law and Moon Township Ordinance require businesses to recycle the following materials: aluminum containers, office paper, corrugated cardboard, and yard waste such as leaves, shrubbery, and tree trimmings - excluding grass clippings.
The Moon Township Municipal Authority needs to verify that all business, institutional, and multi-family properties are participating in a recycling program. Please contact the MTMA at 412-264-4300 to confirm the current status of your recycling program or to get a recycling program started.

| History on Display | |
Something new found in the Township Municipal Lobby is actually something old. Public Works refinished a display case donated from old Moon Township High School that is now being used to display historical items of the community. Currently on display are old pictures of different areas of the Township. The Historical Architectural Review Board is looking for items such as photos, school memorabilia, business memorabilia, clothing and artifacts to put on display in this unique piece of history. HARB is particularly looking for early photos of the Mooncrest Area and the Army Air Force Base when it first began. If you have a historical item or photo to display and are willing to loan them to the Township contact Charlie Belgie at 412-262-5004.
HARB is also looking for historical photos of Mooncrest as part of the application process of getting Mooncrest Historic District on the National Register. Photos will be scanned and returned promptly.

| Celebrate Safely with Fireworks Safety |
Many residents will be celebrating this Independence Day at picnics and get-togethers with friends and family. The Moon Township Volunteer Fire Company and Police Department remind residents that consumer and display fireworks are illegal to use in the state of Pennsylvania without a permit. The only types of fireworks permissible are those defined as "ground and hand-held sparkling devices", "novelties", and "toy caps". When using these novelty items or sparklers, follow these safety tips:
- Always read and follow the instructions carefully.
- Use items outside in an open area.
- A responsible adult should supervise all activities.
- Only light one item at a time.
- Place used items in a bucket of water prior to properly disposing of them.
* Illegal fireworks including cherry bombs, M-80s, M-100s, and silver salutes are all extremely dangerous. In addition, fireworks constructed from mail order kits are illegal and dangerous to assemble or use. Never attempt to make your own fireworks or tamper with fireworks.

This evening filled with food, fun, and activities will spotlight live entertainment from up-and-coming music artists. In addition to Rhett, Moon Township's own Sarah Marince will perform. Kids will have plenty of their own entertainment to enjoy including a Fun House, Jungle Adventure Playland, Midway games and Ocean Island obstacle course. To end the night, Moon Parks and Recreation will light up the sky with a fireworks show from Zambelli International. Festivities and children activities begin at 4 p.m. and music begins at 6 p.m. Arrive early for most convenient parking.
