Supervisors Reorganize for New Year
|
At its first public meeting of the New Year, the Moon Township Board of Supervisors reorganized for 2012 by appointing a variety of township officials and representatives to its citizen advisory bodies. Board Members Begin New Terms
|
Following reorganization, the Board of Supervisors welcomed newly-elected Supervisor John Hertzer at the January regular meeting. Supervisor Andrew Gribben also took the oath of office as he returns to the board for a six-year term he was elected to in November. Supervisor John Hertzer A 14-year Moon Township resident, Supervisor Hertzer works for Aon Corporation and is a graduate of Clarion University. Supervisor Hertzer previously served on the Moon Township Parks and Recreation Advisory Board. In addition to his township board service, Supervisor Hertzer is actively involved with Moon Township League Baseball as a seven-year member of the Board of Directors and coach of 11 years. Supervisor Hertzer and his wife Helen have two sons in the high school and elementary levels of the Moon Area School District.
Supervisor Andrew Gribben Supervisor Andrew Gribben has served for two years on the Moon Township Board of Supervisors. A 15-year resident of Moon Township, Supervisor Gribben is a plant manager for SMS Millcraft and a graduate of Purdue University. In addition to his board service, Supervisor Gribben has coached for five years for the Moon Area Soccer Association and volunteers at the Moon Township Public Library. Supervisor Gribben and his wife Christianne have two children attending Allard Elementary School. |
Picnic Pavilion Rentals Open in February

Indulge in today's 52-degree high and sunny skies by planning ahead for some fun in the park this spring and summer.
The Moon Township Parks and Recreation Department will begin taking reservations for Moon Park picnic pavilions in February. Mark the following registration dates on your calendar:
Monday, Feb. 13: Walk-in reservations open at 9 a.m. at the Moon Township Municipal Building for Moon Township residents only. Photo ID proving residency will be required.
Tuesday, Feb. 14: Reservations open at 9 a.m. at the Moon Park Office for all non-residents.

Compost Your Christmas Tree at Curbside

In a holiday edition of its composting program, the Moon Township Public Works Department is offering curbside collections for live Christmas trees through Jan. 13. Pickup will follow residents' regular garbage collection schedule Monday through Friday.
Tree drop-offs also will be accepted on Jan. 14, and Jan. 15, at the Downes Fire Station located at the intersection of Beaver Grade and Ewing roads. The composting drop-off site will be open to residents from 9 a.m. to 5 p.m.
Please remove all ornaments and decorations, and place trees at the curb line by 8 a.m. on pickup day. Artificial trees will not be accepted.
Trees collected through the program will be chipped and reused for landscaping projects around the township.

Board Approves 2012 Budget
| The Moon Township Board of Supervisors voted at its December Workshop Meeting to approve Moon Township's final 2012 Budget, which maintains flat tax rates and the full range of municipal services. Read more about the 2012 budget here.
