Moon Township to Remember September 11 with Dedication of World Trade Center Steel

In remembrance of the tenth anniversary of September 11, 2001, the Moon Township Volunteer Fire Company and Township of Moon will dedicate a steel segment from the World Trade Center to stand as a public memorial to the nearly 3,000 people who lost their lives in the attacks.
All are invited to attend the dedication ceremony at 10 a.m. Sunday, September 11, 2011, at the Moon Township Memorial Garden, 1000 Beaver Grade Road. Find an invitation here.
During the September 11 ceremony, the mounted steel will be unveiled and dedicated in its place in the Moon Township Memorial Garden. The fire company and township also will honor the occasion with musical tributes, a memorial wreath laying and guest speakers representing the emergency response, military and airline communities.
Memorial Garden Brick Campaign Moon Township also is inviting community members to add their own lasting message to the Memorial Garden by purchasing a commemorative brick to remember a loved one, honor a friend or family member or recognize a milestone. Find details and order form here.

New Board Member Appointed to Moon Township Board of Supervisors
| At a public meeting on Sept. 7, the Moon Township Vacancy Board appointed Nancy Patton Mills to fill the fifth seat on the Moon Township Board of Supervisors, which was left vacant by former Supervisor Tim McLaughlin's August resignation.The Vacancy Board convened following the Sept. 7, regular Moon Township Board of Supervisors meeting.
Patton Mills will fill the remainder of McLaughlin's term, which expires in January 2012. A longtime resident of Moon Township, Patton Mills currently serves as the vice chairperson for the Moon Township Planning Commission, and is a managing partner of Roselea Farm in Moon Township.
Patton Mills earned a B.A. in Communications from Chatham University in 1989 and a Ph.D. in Communications and Rhetoric from Duquesne University in 2006. In addition to her service on the Planning Commission, Patton Mills is a member of the board of the Pittsburgh Botanic Garden serving on the Strategic Planning Committee and the Marketing committee. She also serves on the board of Settlers Cabin Park, and the Women's International Club of the University of Pittsburgh.
