2011 Family Fun Nights Kick Off Tonight

The 2011 Family Fun Nights series kicks off Friday, June 3, with a live performance by Clem Rolin & The Pittsburgh Jazz All-Stars with Denise Powell (Lisa Ferraro is unable to perform). The concert begins at 7:30 p.m. at the ARL Amphitheater in Moon Park.
The entertainment lineup continues through August with family-friendly concerts and movies on Friday evenings at Moon Park. Visit www.moonparks.org for the full Family Fun Nights schedule.

Comprehensive Plan Committee Discusses Moon Township's Strengths and Weaknesses

At Moon Township's second Comprehensive Plan meeting, steering committee members and resident attendees reviewed the plan's major components and discussed details for a community survey, which will be released to township residents to gather public input for the plan.
Project consultant D. Jeffry Pierce of Olsen & Associates also distributed the Comprehensive Plan project book, which is available for review at the Moon Township Municipal Building. An electronic version of the project book will be posted on the Comprehensive Plan web page.
Following the plan overview, attendees divided into discussion groups with the task of identifying Moon Township's primary strengths and weaknesses. The focus group findings will be presented at the next Comprehensive Plan Committee meeting, which is scheduled for 5:30 p.m. Wednesday, June 8, at the Moon Township Municipal Building. Residents are encouraged to attend these public meetings.

Moon Township 5K Run/Walk
| Calling all walkers and runners: Moon Parks and Recreation is hosting its Third Annual 5K Run/Walk on Saturday, July 2.The race starts at 9 a.m. at the Greater Pittsburgh Orthopaedic Associates office, 725 Cherrington Parkway, Moon Township. Registration information is available at www.moonparks.org or by calling the Moon Park Office at 412-262-1703.

Celebrate Fourth of July at the Park

Join Moon Parks and Recreation for music, festivities and fireworks at the Annual Fourth of July Independence Celebration sponsored by Clearview Federal Credit Union.
This year's entertainment lineup will feature national recording artist Chuck Wicks, appearing courtesy of Mr. and Mrs. Ray Pronto, as well as Moon Township fan favorites Sarah Marince and Brooke Annibale.
The festivities begin at 4 p.m. on Monday July 4, with children's activities and food vendors. Performers will begin taking the stage at 6 p.m., and the evening will wrap up with fireworks at dark. Find details at www.moonparks.org.

MCA-TV Offers Free Television Production Classes

Moon Community Access Television is offering a free training session this summer for anyone interested in learning the basics of television production and volunteering at the station.
The spring training session consists of four Wednesday evening classes, which will be held at the MCA-TV studio, 1700 Beaver Grade Road, from 6:30 to 8 p.m. on June 22, June 29, July 13 and July 20.
These hands-on classes will provide an overview of camera operation, audio and lighting and an introduction to editing. The training session is open to residents of any community. Upon completion, participants are ready to assist with any MCA-TV program.
