Moon Supervisors Reorganize for 2011
At its Jan. 3, Reorganization Meeting, the Moon Township Board of Supervisors appointed officials for 2011 and filled vacancies on several citizen boards and committees. Read the highlights here.

Moon Park Shelter Reservations Open in Feb.
The Moon Township Parks & Recreation Department will begin taking reservations for Moon Park picnic shelters on Monday, February 14.
  • Monday, Feb. 14 - Walk-in reservations for Moon residents only will begin at 9 a.m. at the Moon Township Municipal Building. Photo ID proving residency will be required.
     
  • Tuesday, Feb. 15 - Reservations begin for non-residents at 9 a.m. at the Moon Park Office.

Return completed surveys with your Moon Township Municipal Authority utility bill or mail to MCA-TV, 1700 Beaver Grade Road. If you don't get a utility bill, take it online at www.mca-tv.com.

Free Television Production Training Class

Moon Community Access Television is offering a free training session beginning in January for anyone interested in learning the basics of television production and volunteering at the station. These hands-on classes provide an overview of camera operation, audio and lighting as well as an introduction to editing. The training session consists of four Thursday evening classes. The winter training session will be held from 6:30 to 8 p.m. on Jan. 27, Feb. 3, Feb. 10 and Feb. 17. To register, please call 412-269-1191 or e-mail mca-tv@moontwp.com.


Free Interview Opportunity for Local Nonprofits

 For the 13th year, Moon Community Access Television is inviting Pittsburgh-area nonprofits into the studio to promote their cause during a two-day marathon of live interviews.


MCA-TV has set the dates for Public Awareness Weekend 2011, which runs from 1 to 9 p.m. Friday, March 18 and continues from 9 a.m. to 9 p.m. Saturday, March 19.
          

Public Awareness Weekend gives charitable organizations the opportunity to inform viewers about their mission, services, programs and volunteer opportunities during a 30-minute live interview. MCA-TV reaches more than 20,000 households in Moon Township and surrounding communities on Comcast channel 14 and Verizon FiOS channel 35.

Prom Dress Stop and Swap Donations
The library is accepting donations of gently-used prom dresses and formal wear, shoes and accessories through Feb. 25.
Those who donate a dress will receive a ticket for the March swap, which entitles the patron to take a new dress home from the swap for free. If you do not wish to attend the swap, but still want to donate, your generosity would be greatly appreciated.

The Moon Garden Club and Moon  Township Parks and Recreation are inviting residents to enter their garden in the 2011 Moon Beautiful Garden Contest.


Plan to have your garden ready for summer 2011 to compete in any of the following categories: Flower garden, Vegetable Garden, Container Garden, Water Garden Children's Garden and Special Attraction Garden.
