Twenty Years Teaching Environmental Responsibility in Springs School
The 2011-12 school year marks our 20th year collaborating with Springs School to teach children about their natural surroundings through the T.E.R.N. (Teaching Environmental Responsibility Now) program!

Just as in 1992-93 and every year since, this year's fifth-graders will experience field trips to the local salt marsh, ocean beach, forest, and freshwater pond. In the coming months, they will also benefit from classroom lessons about Long Island's geologic history, drinking water, taxonomy, and ecology.

Group educators thoroughly enjoy partnering with the Springs fifth-grade teachers - Irene Tully, Tracey Frazier, and Christine Cleary - to maximize learning experiences for each and every student.

East Hampton Environmental Coalition Presents Candidate Survey Results

As a member of the East Hampton Environmental Coalition (EHEC), we are helping you prepare for this Election Day. All eight candidates for East Hampton Town Board and Supervisor have completed environmental questionnaires, which are available for viewing at http://www.nylcvef.org/easthampton/2011candidates.

The 12-question survey polled candidates on issues such as coastal preservation planning, aquifers and drinking water, surface water and estuarine health, open space preservation, light and noise pollution, environmental planning and code enforcement, solid and water waste management, and the candidates' environmental credentials and philosophies.

Please take a look at the candidates' responses before heading to the polls on November 8th, so you'll know where they stand on important environmental issues.

450 Acres Preserved in Southampton and Riverhead Towns this October
Group for the East End applauds the recent preservation of two large parcels of land in eastern Long Island. These parcels account for about 450 acres in Southampton and Riverhead towns. Their preservation represents a critical collaboration between County and local governments and the consistent advocacy of conservation organizations.
