Goldsmith Inlet Restoration Is One Step Closer to Reality

Goldsmith Inlet, a 20-acre tidal wetland pond connected to the Long Island Sound, was once a vibrant ecosystem supporting a wide range of wildlife, shellfish, and recreational opportunities in a safe and healthy environment.  Unfortunately its health has been in rapid decline as pollution levels have increased to dangerous levels due to stormwater runoff and aging septic systems within its watershed.  To combat this detriment to the inlet, a work plan has been proposed that will evaluate the invasive species present, analyze the watershed drainage system, seek to understand the flushing rate, identify the sources of coliform bacteria and other pollutants present, and develop a series of recommendations and action plans for the future.  With Group support, $85,000 in capital funding from the Suffolk County Legislature was approved and the implementation of a Goldsmith Inlet work plan is closer to becoming a reality.

Home Energy Savings 101: Advice From a New Homeowner

North Fork Vineyard Tuscan Feast Draws a Crowd

On October 9th, Group friends and supporters gathered at Gramercy Vineyards in Mattituck for an intimate dinner. The purpose of the evening was to celebrate the local food growers and producers of the East End, while supporting the environmental advocacy and education programs of Group for the East End. It was a beautiful evening, and we hope to expand the event next year.

Many thanks to our event sponsors!
