A Night of Food, Beer, Wine and...Extravaganza! |
After months of planning and hard work, the CB Alumni Association hosted its largest, most successful Food, Beer, and Wine Extravaganza to date. With more than 1, 600 guests in attendance, the event raised $60,000 to support the tuition assistance program at CBHS. Eager guests began arriving early for the first ever Brother Timothy Private Reserve Tasting which debuted before the main event and featured excellent wines from throughout the Central and Napa Valleys, as well as wonderful gourmet hors d'oeuvres and elegant desserts. The Extravaganza really got going as attendees for the main event began to arrive thanks to shuttle and transportation service provided by Top Notch Limousine. CB alumni, family, and friends indulged on tastings from over 60 wineries, 30 restaurants, and more than 25 different breweries. Live music played throughout the evening in different venues, but the crowd really got fired up when the featured band, The Wonderbread 5, performed in the beer garden. The food provided by the various alumni class tables was incredible and a special thanks to all who participated. You truly outdid yourselves and we look forward to seeing you next year. In 2010, there will be a contest for the best alumni class table. More details on that to come next Summer.
The Alumni Association would like to give a special thanks to all of our wine, beer, and food vendors. You truly make this event happen year after year. Your hard work and presentation are what make this event so special to so many. Also, we would like to thank all of our volunteers and sponsors. You play an integral role in the success of the event.
Planning for the 2010 event is currently underway. If you are interested in helping with the event, hosting a vendor table, donating gifts or sponsorship, please contact the Alumni Relations Office at (916) 733-3647. |

Falcon Football Achieves Victory at Holy Bowl 2009!
|

The Alumni Association congratulates the Christian Brothers' varsity football team on their victory over Jesuit High School at Holy Bowl 2009. On Saturday, September 26, thousands of fans gathered at Hughes Stadium at Sacramento City College to watch the annual gridiron battle between the Falcons and their rivals, the Jesuit Marauders. Our CB football players beat Jesuit 26 to 6 and it was the team's first victory in seven years.
The Alumni Association hosted a festive BBQ in the parking lot to gear up for the game. Look for this event to be bigger and better in 2010. |
Alumni In Action for Homecoming Week...
|
Homecoming week not only turned out to be eventful for the students, but also for the Bishop Manogue and Christian Brothers alumni who showed their spirit and helped put together many festivities along with the CB students during their homecoming week. The week started off on Saturday, October 17, with the Alumni Association helping CB students with their float building for the Homecoming game. This was the first time that the Alumni Association coordinated efforts to help the students build their class floats. Because of the great turnout, a "Float Building Day" will continue to be an annual alumni and student event.
Over 25 Christian Brothers, Bishop Manogue, and St. Francis alumnae gathered before the big game and organized their own spirit squad. These lovely ladies even performed with the current CB cheer squad during halftime.
The Alumni Association hosted a pre-game brunch social and then gathered to watch the Christian Brothers Falcons play the Oak Ridge Trojans in a "nail-biting" 28-31 loss. Nevertheless, Homecoming week turned out to be great fun for alumni and students. A special thanks for all the alumni who came out to show their support for the football team and cheerleaders.

CB Reunions that Rocked...Class of 59, 64, 69, 74, 79 and 99.
|
Many Christian Brothers' reunions were celebrated these past few months. The following graduating classes reminisced about their good old high school days and celebrated:
Class of '59 - On October 2, CB alumni and Bishop Manogue alumnae gathered at Arden Hills Resort Spa to celebrate their "golden" 50-year reunion. Linda Giese was the reunion coordinator.
Class of '64 - On October 17, CB alumni met at the Croatian Hall for their 45-year reunion. Vince Angell was the reunion coordinator.
Class of '69 - On October 10, CB and Bishop Manogue alumni who graduated during the summer of love celebrated their 40-year reunion at the Dante Club.
Class of '74 - On November 7, class of '74 celebrated their 35-year reunion at the Dante Club. Rocky Niehaus organized the celebration.
Class of '79 - CB and Bishop Manogue alumni from class of '79 went all out and celebrated their reunion over three days. First on October 22, the class joined forces with class of '78 for a cocktail party at Chargin's Bar and Grill. The next day, '79 grads enjoyed a day of golf at Big Maloney Golf Course, followed by a class reunion social in the newly built field house at Christian Brothers. To top it off, many '79 grads attended the Homecoming game on October 24.
Class of '99 - On August 28, the Class of '99 celebrated their 10-year reunion at 4th Street Grill in downtown Sacramento. Aaron Heirs was the reunion coordinator for this event and this class sure did party like it was "1999!"
