We were fortunate to once again be on the faculty of the Barret School of Banking where Jimmy Sawyers returned for his 11th year to teach the Technology & E-Commerce class.  The recent 37th annual session, held the week of May 17-22 at Christian Brothers University, included a lecture series by former ABC news anchor and White House correspondent, Sam Donaldson, who recounted his experience over the past few decades on the front lines of the political scene while he dispensed some sage lessons on leadership.

On May 28th, we had the pleasure of being invited to meet with the FDIC's IT Examiners, from around the region and Washington D.C., to share a consultant's perspective on the state of technology in banking and recent technology trends impacting banks.  IT Specialists and Examiners from Texas, Louisiana, New Mexico, Tennessee, Mississippi, and several other states were in attendance.

 

Some of the topics we discussed included Social Networking, Risk Assessment Methodologies, Smartphone Proliferation, Cloud Computing, Virtualization, and a selection of the most frequently confused items noted in IT examinations.
