Greetings!
Today, Wednesday, November 11th, we celebrate another Veteran's Day, commemorating the service and sacrifice of generations of soldiers, sailors, airmen and Marines.
Sadly, we also pause to reflect on the senseless execution of 13 soldiers and civilians at Ft. Hood, Texas, last week. This needless tragedy must not be forgotten this week, and I ask you all to pause and reflect upon the sacrifices of all who've served in our armed forces, but especially the selfless actions of those who've paid the ultimate sacrifice.
Equally important, we must remember to thank and honor those families who have a loved one serving in harm's way, as well as those families who've suffered the loss or injury of a loved one in defense of our nation's freedoms. Often these families are unable to make ends meet because of the hardships they've endured. It is our mission here at Freedom Is Not Free to help ease their burdens and remind them that a grateful nation remembers their sacrifices. We can't do it alone, however, and I ask you this Veterans Day to help us help them.
Not only has Freedom Is Not Free assisted our nation's wounded and their families financially, but we have also provided programs for their children. These programs, like our Little Warriors Surf Camp, give children of wounded and deployed service members an outlet and escape from the daily reminders of why they're different. It is our goal to provide no fewer than four surf camps next summer -- including giving each child a board of their own.
