Edge of Knife is back this Saturday, be sure to bring your dull knives!
Moon Doggie Coffee Roasters ~ will be on vacation this week.
Orchards of Concklin ~ Summer apples have started -- August Macs and Gingergolds, peaches and nectarines are at their best. There are still some local plums around and don't forget blueberries!
Red Barn Farm ~ We will be bringing green and purple (yes purple) beans, eggplant, tomatoes, carrots, hot peppers, and of course, eggs and honey.
Janet's Baked Goods ~ Hope that everyone is enjoying their summer vacations! Can you say "Mini Monkey Bread?" Yes, I will have it at the market this weekend. As well as Almond & Almond Apple Croissants and Chocolate Croissants! The muffins of the week will be Berry Muffins! See you on Saturday.
Hudson Valley Pantry returns this week with their complete assortment of Salsas as well as Hummus and Barbecue Sauce and Raspberry Hot Fudge Sauce.
Snoep Winkel Farm ~ Steaks and burgers are great for grilling, but sometimes your taste buds want to switch things up. How about our split chickens for the grill. Our pastured raised chickens are split in half to make grilling easier or try one of our roasters for those folks who have a rotisserie, or like to make beer-can chicken. Your taste buds will thank you.
Bialas Farms ~ If you're seeing red this week... it's because we FINALLY have some Tomatoes! We'll have an assortment of heirloom and garden tomatoes for you to choose from this week. Try making gazpacho for a refreshing summer soup. All the veggies you need for our 'Summer in a Bowl' Soup will be right at the stand.
Striped and dark Purple Eggplant will be on special. Gather your recipes and start making caponata, parmigiana, ratatouille, moussaka & melitzanosalata, etc for the freezer. We'll have parsley, dill, basil, cilantro, loads of garlic and onions and potatoes... all the staples for your favorite dishes. Did you know you can roast eggplant cubes then freeze them for later use? Very handy, indeed. A little planning and effort now will ensure that you are able to enjoy Bialas Farms veggies all winter long! Walnut Grove Farms returns on August 18th.
Don't forget our other great vendors: B&B Jams, Conturso's Market, Edgwick Farm, Fontanarosa's, The Joi of Pickles, Pastabilities, R&L Greenhouses, and Stefan & Sons.

Recipe of the Week
Peach Glazed Turkey Breast
|
5 large peaches, peeled, pitted, diced 5 - 6 pound breast of turkey ¼ tsp pepper 1/3 cup orange juice 2 Tbsp minced crystallized ginger 2 whole scallions, chopped
¼ cup brown sugar
1 Tbsp orange rind zest
½ tsp marjoram leaves
|
|
3 Tbsp dry white wine
½ tsp curry powder
1. Grill turkey breast with a moderate, indirect, even heat for one hour, four to six inches directly above the drip pan. Cover and adjust heat as necessary. Set aside.
2. In a 4-quart pan, combine marjoram, pepper, peaches, sugar, orange juice and zest, ginger, scallions, wine and curry powder. Cook over medium heat until almost boiling, then reduce heat and boil gently, uncovered, until thick (15 - 20 minutes). Stir often. Divide peach glaze in half.
3. Place turkey breast on the grill and brush generously with half of peach mixture. Cook until a meat thermometer registers 185 degrees and is tender to the touch. The remaining peach glaze can be spooned over individual slices before serving. Do not serve peach glace used for basting on grill.
