Here's a Look at What's Happening at the
Ringwood Farmers' Market this Week!

Greetings!

Cooler, more comfortable temps are in store for Saturday, so be sure to linger a little longer at the market this weekend. Take a seat and enjoy the live music while you sip a hot coffee or iced tea and nibble on a muffin. Spend some time talking to the vendors, sample their products and get to know them a bit. Have fun!

Don't forget your knives!

The Knife Man is back! Edge of Knife will join us at the market this week, so bring your dull knives for sharpening.   

  

Walnut Grove Farms is coming with a fresh supply of beef and pork cuts. They look forward to seeing all of their customer and vendor friends!   

  

Pastabilities is coming with freshly made Pesto and Chimichurri sauces.   

  

Orchards of Concklin will have peaches and nectarines, both in white and yellow varieties, three kinds of plums, sweet corn, tomatoes AND the first apples of this season "August Macs".  Don't forget the fruit pies and apple cider!

 
   

Janet's Baked Goods ~ Please stop in at the market and see what's baking. Janet  will be bringing some Blueberry/Blackberry Muffins- Double Treat!  Get them while they are in season. We hope that Janet's helper, Cindy, is enjoying her vacation!    


Red Barn Farm ~
is bringing mounds of Hungarian Hot Peppers!  Try pickling them or throwing them in a stir fry to spice things up!  They'll also have zucchini, green beans , collard greens, kale, Swiss chard, and tons of basil.  

 

Conturso's Market will be featuring assorted stuffed breads, white cheese pizza, fire roasted peppers and artichoke white pizza, homemade spreads, chips and prepared meals. 

 

Don't forget our other great vendors: B&B Jams, Bialas Farms, Edgwick Farm, Fontanarosa's, Hudson Valley Pantry, The Joi of Pickles, Moon Doggie Coffee, Pastabilities, R&L Greenhouses, Snoep Winkel Farm, and Stefan & Sons.

Recipe of the Week

Zucchini Soup    zucchini soup

  

2 tbs       Butter

1             Onion, diced

1             Garlic clove, minced

1 tsp       Curry Powder

4             Zucchini, chopped

4 c          Vegetable Broth

2 c          Canned coconut milk

1/2 tsp     Sugar

1 1/2 tsp  Salt

Juice of 1/2 lime or to taste

Freshly ground pepper to taste

 

In a large saucepan, melt the butter over medium heat.  Add the onion and saute for 5 minutes, or until soft.  Add the garlic and curry and saute until fragrant, about 2 minutes.Add the zucchini and saute for 5 minutes, or until soft.

 

Transfer the zucchini mixture to a blender or food processor.  Add 1 cup of the broth and puree.

 

Return the puree to the saucepan.  Stir in the remaining chicken broth and coconut milk and simmer the soup over medium heat for 30 minutes.  Stir in the lime juice, sugar, salt and pepper.
