| Never Let It Show

| | You are doing everything you've been taught through research, workshops and networking to ensure your career search is successful. You've been fortunate in landing interviews but have yet to receive a job offer. The question "Why am I still unemployed?" resurfaces more and more as time passes. Your momentum is dwindling.... Then the phone rings. It's a company who is interested in talking with you about a potential position within their organization. You should be excited, elated, full of hope and excitement, but you're just the opposite. You are happy for the interest shown in you and will definitely go to the interview, but you already know that it will be just another dead end.
You have joined a large group: the defeated job seeker. Someone who knows they are more than capable, but has given up. More often than not in today's economy, we see great candidates who have it all but one thing- Confidence. Confidence may seem invisible, but it's very tangible in a job interview. If you appear down in the dumps, depressed, and angry at the world, you probably will not get hired.
If you find yourself in this negative deadlock, it is time to make some changes within yourself. Confidence is gained from within and from others. If you want something, you must change your method of thinking. Take steps to regain your self-belief and self-worth. Though you will visit those valleys of dismay during your career search, you must promise yourself you will follow one golden rule; NEVER let it show. |
