COLLABORATION
By Karen Wentworth, 2012 Chamber President

Karen Wentworth 2012Collaboration
Definition: working together toward a common goal.

Welcome to spring!

The early warm weather made for a beautiful day at the Landscape and Home Expo on March 17th. Residents were able to meet with our participating businesses and the atmosphere was great.  The collaboration between our Expo Committee, the participating businesses, and Lakeville North High School was once again phenomenal.  Thank you to all!

Another example of collaberation. During the month of March, the City of Lakeville announced its new economic development branding tagline "Positioned to Thrive".  Lakeville is a city with thriving businesses both commercial and industrial and the Chamber and its members are at the center of this community.  We are more than a suburb - we are a unique community.

The Chamber welcomes the opportunity to be partners with the City and also the Lakeville School District to work towards the common goal of promoting the City of Lakeville as we move toward our shared future.

One of the Chamber's goals is to collaborate with the City of Lakeville to market for new businesses.  Working together, we will solve problems and resolve potential issues that might keep businesses from choosing Lakeville or inhibit expansion of current businesses.  Together we can generate a more thriving business community.

We welcome your ideas on how the Chamber can assist in promoting Lakeville to potential businesses and residents.  Thank you for taking the time to respond as this collaboration will make our City and Chamber stronger!

Sincerely,
Karen Wentworth, 2012 Lakeville Chamber President

Project Updates

POSITIONED TO THRIVE

The City of Lakeville unveiled its new brand and marketing tagline at the March 21 State of the City Address. "Positioned to Thrive" was announced as the tagline developed as part of a new business marketing strategy.  A short video highlighting the brand statement surrounding this new tagline can be viewed on the City's YouTube page.

McDONALDS

has submitted plans for a new location at the northeast corner of Cedar Avenue and 179th Street in the Crossroads retail development.  The proposed store would be constructed on the site currently occupied by Dino's Gyros.  The City Council will consider McDonald's conditional use permit application at their March 16 meeting.

FAMILY LEISURE
opened their new store in Lakeville on Friday, March 30  located in the Lakeville Crossing Shopping Center, near the intersection of Co. Rd. 46 and Cedar Avenue. Family Leisure has leased the 35,000-square-foot space that was formerly occupied by Kowalski's grocery store and sells, installs, and services swimming pools, patio furniture, spas, pool tables, and other products.

THE FOUNTAINS AT HOSANNA!
The 93-unit senior housing project is nearly enclosed and the roof and windows have been installed. Model units are currently under construction and an informational meeting is scheduled for April 28. The project is scheduled to be completed this fall.

WALMART
The exterior walls for the store are nearing completion and the steel for the roof structure is being installed. The general contractor plans to turn the building over to Walmart by Labor Day and Walmart would open the store sometime in October.
