BMA's New Membership Director
The Boulder Mountainbike Alliance is pleased to announce the hiring of its new Membership Director, Casey Newman (bio below) Casey is directing both the Individual and Business membership areas for the organization. You can contact him for info on getting involved with BMA membership, events, branding and marketing opportunities or anything related. With such a strong base record and accomplishments, following and presence in the Boulder marketplace for the BMA, Casey is very excited to advance the membership in numbers, benefits and brand identity in Boulder County. He's reaching out to as many present, past and future supporters of the BMA as possible. If you have a question, concern or idea on how to make BMA membership better, contact him at caseyn@bouldermountainbike.org.
He looks forward to meeting as many of you as possible at BMA events in the future!
Introducing Casey Newman
Casey has been a "native" of Boulder since 1979, when he moved here, in his early twenties, from the East Coast. Although he relocated here for the lifetime supply of world class rock climbing, he quickly discovered the "any sport you want" nirvana that Colorado is. Over time, mountain biking and skiing have been added to the addictions, along with hiking the peaks and camping among the awesome mountain backdrops that Colorado has to offer.
Having spent the majority of his working days in the climbing industry in many different capacities, he's expanding his business reach into the world of mountain biking. Because there is a crossover population of these two sub-cultures, the transition should be easy and filled with familiar faces. Casey is happily married to Karen, an attorney, and father to 2 sons, Connor, 23, and Trevor, 17. His 2 dogs, Sam and Bailey; and 2 cats , PJ and Reinhold, along with his raspberries and his house; keep him busy when he's not climbing, biking, hiking, or skiing.

Biggest Social Rides of the Year
Knobby Weekend at Winter Park!
We head west July 28th to Winter Park. Sign up and details are here! Ride the lifts (with a special BMA discount!) or ride the valley trails. We'll meet up in the afternoon for burgers and beers provided by Oskar Blues!
Sufferfest/Caribou Classic
Once again, BMA will be hosting our end of the summer season ride - Sufferfest/Caribou Classic is on our calendar for September 8th - is it on yours?
We'll be back at the Guercio family's Caribou Ranch for riding and camping. Those who came out last year know this is an extraordinary venue, with amazing hosts, and we're excited that we've been invited back again. As in the past, our volunteers make this event happen, and they have the most fun! If you don't want to ride, come out and give a hand. We'll promise to feed you and you'll have a ton of fun with our crew!
So plug the date into your calendar, start getting some miles in, and we'll see you in September!

Fourmile to Betasso Opens!
It took quite a while, but the wait was worth it. On Thursday, July 12, the Boulder County Commissioners were happy to open a new piece of trail that will change the character of riding at Betasso Preserve. This trail continues the work done by BCPOS trail craftsmen (they are no longer just 'trail builders') on the Benjamin Loop. Trail snobs will be impressed! The rock work done harkens back to the work done by the WPA in the 1930s.
There are two necessary 'hike a bike' sections on this trail. We suggest you stop and marvel at the work done with our tax dollars. We LOVE it!

Update on Updating Trail Conditions!
We need your help to keep trail conditions up-to-date. To help you, we've created two cool new ways that make it easier to update conditions quickly and simply.
Tweet the hashtag #boco_trails plus the name of a trail (Canyon Link, Bitterbrush) or trail area (Betasso, Hall) in your tweet, and our super smart website will copy that tweet to the trail's comments.
Also, the main trail conditions page has a new button which allows you to update multiple trail conditions at once. Login to the website then look for this button - just click it, type in comments for the trails you rode, then click Save. That's it. Be sure to add a comment, only changing the Good/Fair/Bad status won't stick without a comment too.
