Yes, There is an Important Election Going on NOW
You've probably seen it already... The mail-in ballot that came in your mail last week... No, it's not a mistake, it's the Democratic Primary election that is going on RIGHT NOW.
Open it! You'll see plenty of uncontested races, but there is one that is important, the District 1 County Commissioner's race.
There are two fine, up-standing candidates in this race, but the policy wonks here at BMA are encouraging you to vote for Elise Jones.
Why, you ask?
So much of a County Commissioner's job is about being a good administrator that uses a fair, thoughtful approach to delivering the services that Boulder County provides. Transportation, Human Services, and our focus area, Open Space are some of the important services that Boulder County provides its residents. With a workforce of over 1200 employees, They are CEO's more than anything.
We believe Elise Jones has the experience and qualifications that make her a better fit for this job. We also believe that Elise's environmental credentials make her a champion to break down the cultural schizm that has been perpetuated by old guard preservationists that preservation and recreation are not compatible on our public lands. She is a fine successor to Will Toor, who focused on Open Space issues and his efforts were recognized by BMA in 2010 when we awarded him the BMA Hero award.
It will take you five minutes fill out the ballot, put it in the envelope, sign, seal and stamp the thing and put it in the mailbox. Less than 7000 ballots will be cast in this primary election, maybe far less than that number, so your vote has a significant impact.

Heil Trail Work Update
 Have you been to Heil this month? The Wapiti Trail has seen a major overhaul - so much so it's like riding a new trail. National Trails Day at Heil Valley Ranch was a huge success - we finished 300' of trail reroute/restoration that will ensure that the Wapiti Trail will provide tons of fun for all users. Continuing our partnership with Boulder County Parks and Open Space, we were happy to be able to celebrate National Trails Day with our friends at the County, including Commissioner Will Toor.
