Back in April, BMA was able to run our first fundraiser auction that generated $1300 towards better trails for Boulder County.  Many thanks to University Bikes for their generous donation of a Niner bike frame. BMA has already used this money to purchase some awesome tools for our trail work program (see below!).

The Pro's Closet has teamed up with BMA in an effort to help expand BMA's fundraising opportunities. If you have new or used gear that you would like to donate, drop it off at The Pro's Closet's north Boulder location and they'll make sure the proceeds go directly to BMA.

If you have something that you would like to donate for BMA fundraising, contact  donations@bouldermountainbike.org and we'll get you dialed in. 

While our trail crews do incredible work with just hand tools, the challenges we face reconstructing the trails at West Mag and throughout USFS lands in Boulder County make it necessary to find ways to increase the productivity of our volunteer trail people.  The more efficient we make our trail crews, the faster we get better trails open.

BMA has teamed with Oskar Blues to purchase a Canycom motorized wheelbarrow.  For anyone who has helped build a wall or create a stone drain, you know how this machine will be a force multiplier on the trail. Check out one of these machines at work! In honor of Oskar Blues leading the FUH-CAN Revolution, We are going to call it the FUH-CAN HAULER.   

And, thanks to a matching grant from the fine folks at Specialized and help from our friends at The Fix, we now have a tool trailer to get our machine and other tools to and from work sites. 

We're thankful for our amazing partners and supporters who've helped us invest in these trail building investments! 

West Mag is wide open and ready to ride. Details on the upcoming closure change on a daily basis, but here's what you should know:

1. When the loggers come, the ENTIRE West Mag area will be closed for at least two months
2. The West Mag Recreation Area will be 100% closed... no parking, no camping, no riding.
3. When it opens again, large areas will be unrecognizable.
4. We will make it better than before, but it will take time
5. Soonest possible start is the day after Memorial Day
6. These details will continue to change
7. RIDE IT NOW BEFORE IT CLOSES!

Come on out to the 2012 Boulder Bike Swap on Sunday May 20th from 10am-4pm at the Scarpa warehouse on Frontier Avenue in the same parking lot as Boulder Indoor Cycling. 

Help out BMA by donating your used parts and bikes to us. We'll sell them at the swap to raise money for Better Trails for Boulder County! To donate, contact Jason or just drop you used parts by our tent at the event on 5/20!
