First Monday Members Only!

Boulder Indoor Cycling We're in for a treat! First Monday on February 6th Happy Hour will be held in the loft at Boulder Indoor Cycling! This is sure to be a great locale! You know we wouldn't do it without beer - so Oskar Blues is stepping up not only with some of their beer (free!), but they're also driving the Bonewagon down so we'll be able to step outside to grab some grub (not free, bring cash!). ob

BIC has also extended a discounted $5 admission cost to use the facility. Please check in and fill out a waiver
and be sure to bring your helmet!

This will be a members only event, so either print your card before coming down, or join today! More details coming soon, stay tuned.
But What About the Banquet?

You've surely noticed the lack of buzz around this year's BMA Banquet. We're in the process of swapping out some parts to upgrade the banquet into a whole new ride. It will be here in a totally different kind of way.  Watch this space for further details.  Get out your fancy duds again -- plan to be there come early spring.

BOCC Supports BMA

Open Space... The lands we chose to tax ourselves and create the incredible place called Boulder County.  Over the last 20 years, two programs have stood out and removed 150,000 acres from the developer's bulldozer.  We mountain bikers have spent 20 years developing a positive relationship with those agencies, because we know access to public lands is a privilege and not an entitlement.  Some of them notice; this letter is an acknowledgement from one of our most positive and constructive partners:

We're writing to thank the Boulder Mountainbike Alliance for being a consistent partner with Parks and Open Space.  Your participation predates our Partnership Program and serves as an excellent role model for other partners. BMA has contributed countless hours as well as contributed monetarily to complete multiple trail construction projects as well as trail maintenance projects. You have routinely been involved in stakeholder's meetings, volunteer recruitment and the training of your members.

With your help in 2011 alone, Boulder County added over 11 miles of trail around the county including the Benjamin Loop trail and trailhead connectors at Betasso Preserve, the Niwot Dry Creek Trail, the Meadowlark Trail southwest of Superior, and a significant LoBo Trail segment between Niwot and Longmont. BMA was instrumental in helping complete trails at Betasso and worked to maintain and improve other trails in our system.

We look forward to our continued partnership with BMA as we continue to add trails like the Fourmile Connector trail at Betasso and as we plan for additional trails in the mountains and on the plains in Boulder County.  Thanks for your help!  We look forward to a continuing partnership in the future.

Help Write our Trails Map!

For the mountain bike addict in all of us, this winter has been rough.  On the next snowy or windy day, why not sit down at your computer and lend BMA a hand?  BMA needs your creative writing talents and the GPS files from your rides.  We're getting ready to release our SmartTrail app and a new interactive trail map (beta version here), but they're not ready for prime time unless we have GPS tracks and descriptions for all Boulder County MTB trails.

Click here to see what BMA needs most.  We need GPS or Google Earth files for most of the high country USFS trails as well as East Boulder and Rabbit Mountain.  We also need trail descriptions for about 1/2 of the trails in the County!  Grab a beer, sit for a spell, then email your files or description to trailinfo@bouldermountainbike.org.  Thanks!

Calendar
National Trails Day
Don't miss out, mark your calendar and plan on coming out June 2nd to National Trails Day at  Sugar Mag!
We are planning a joint venture again with WRV and overnight fun. It will include approximately 500' of new trail with fairly technical build specs. These will include a causeway, boardwalk, rock garden and pit jump. We will also be reclaiming approx. 400' of old trail. It's gonna be good!
January Movie Night Recap

Thanks to all who came out for Movie Night at Avery on January 10th! 140 folks piled into Avery's barrel room to see some local video talent and our feature film "From the Inside Out", an Anthill Films Production.

The films were awesome, beers were flowing, we gave away a sweet Scott bike (check it out below!), and we made a little dough so BMA can support our trails! Special thanks to Avery Brewing, Scott Sports, and Boulder Cycle Sport for making this a great event!
