Annual Membership Party!

October 19th, 6:00pm - 9:00pm, Full Cycle on Pearl

You know the drill! It's time to party down and elect your BMA board members.  We'll drink beer, mingle and schmooze, and talk about all the great rides we've done this summer. We'll also have awesome Boulder Mountainbike Alliance gear at the ready - bring your checkbook, credit card, or some Benjamins (ok, maybe Benjamins are overkill).

If you are interested in serving on the Board of Directors for BMA, please drop a line to president@bouldermountainbike.org

We will be serving up Avery beer plus wine and food from several local businesses. Full Cycle will be donating 15% of their sales from the event to BMA.  Thank you Full Cycle!

Party!

Smart Trails App Needs a Click

You've seen it in our emails, and today we've made it into the Daily Camera - now it's time for you to be a part of the coolest thing to happen to Boulder trails since sliced bread!

Help the BMA SmartTrail mobile app team win a $1500 grant to finish development. It'll showcase Boulder County trails, allow for real-time trail condition updates, stream BMA's activities, mine the twitter universe, and make your mother proud!

We need your vote now! Voting ends Friday 1pm and BMA is frustratingly close to winning - ranked #3 out of 31 Boulder ideas right now. 30 seconds of your time can make a huge difference in helping us turn this rad idea into reality.

VOTE NOW!!!

Ballots Land in Your Mailbox Starting Monday

Thoughtful and responsible action has become the hallmark of the Boulder Mountainbike Alliance.  The action we need to collectively take now is to VOTE.

BMA along with the Boulder Outdoor Coalition has researched and met with candidates for Boulder City Council.  If elected, these good people could change how the Open Space and Mountain Parks department manages recreation and end their ongoing anti-bike agenda.  We ask you to seriously consider our slate of endorsements.

Fenno Hoffman

While recreation and management of open space are important, we know that this is not the only issue that we all need to consider. This group will be good for Boulder and good for us as citizens that live, work, play and take pride in our community.

These endorsements are the fruit of a decade of advocacy work on behalf of the Mt. Biking Community.  If you want the back story, read on.

--------------------

BMA has always had to play the political game, not because we like to, because we had to.  Prior to 2001, we thought sweat equity and playing nice with the local land agencies would change the hearts and minds of those in charge.

We were wrong.

A decade of political experience is now under our belts. Over that time, we've reached out to organizations whose goals were at odds with our desires of access and sustainable trails on our public lands.  Some of those efforts were productive, but most were frustrating. They lauded us with compliments for our trail work, civility, bike patrols etc... but when it came time for progress on something that really matters, like the West TSA, they pulled back and left us with nothing - absolutely nothing. It has been only been through exercising our political will and muscle that we have been able to make any real progress.

Our political will now turns toward the upcoming council election.  We need you to help us turn the tables so that the majority on council sees the fallacy in the myth of "never ending user conflict".  To change the myth and change the department - we must change council.

That's why we need your vote. Thanks for listening.

Boulder Cup BEER Help Needed!

Have you heard the cowbells yet? The Boulder Cup hosted by DBC Events is going to hit Valmont Park October 30th.  This will be a huge UCI race, and we've got a huge fundraising opportunity.

We are hosting the Beer Garden with the City of Boulder & need volunteers to man the beer garden. (Yes you can drink beer at the same time!) Proceeds from the beer garden will benefit Valmont Bike Park!

We also need people to sell Merchandise, memberships etc. in the BMA tent in the expo area. Sound hard? It's not! You get a chair, talk to people who love riding, collect some $$, and help BMA. It's easy, fun, and a great way to give back to the park and BMA.
