BMA Coordinates City Council Endorsements with Equestrians, Climbers, Runners, and Dog Guardians

The BMA Advocacy Team has learned a few lessons in politics this year (courtesy of the school of hard knocks). One - who is in power is more important than the justice of your cause. Two - we need to work with partners to change who is in power.

To that end, BMA has partnered with the Boulder Outdoor Coalition to interview council candidates, ask the hard questions, and find council members that can support reasonable and responsible access to our open space lands.

City Council Election Season Starts NOW! Make sure you are an "ACTIVE VOTER"

If you live within the City limits of Boulder, an important election is coming your way this fall.  2011 has been a both a good year and a bad year for mountain biking in Boulder.  We had the incredible success of Valmont Bike Park but also the tremendous disappointment of the West TSA. What do these two events have in common? They both prove that MOUNTAIN BIKERS NEED TO GET POLITICAL!

The BMA Advocacy Team is currently vetting city council candidates and working with other outdoor recreation groups to present a unified slate of candidates that care about our issues, will be there for us when it matters, and will be good for Boulder in general. But WE NEED YOU to make a difference. We need you to make sure you are an active voter - only "active" voters will be mailed a ballot in this mail-ballot-only election.

To make sure you are an "active" voter and to make sure you can help BMA make a difference this election cycle, follow these simple steps:
  1. Go to the Secretary of State Voter Info website; click  here
  2. Select "Update Mail-in Ballot Request
  3. Enter in your name, zip code and birthday
  4. Under "Registration Information" look for "Registration Status." If it says "active" you are good to go. Just check your address and make sure it is correct.
  5. If you are not an "active" voter, click on the button that says "Click here to change your address, party affiliation or permanent mail-in ballot status."
  6. Enter your CO driver's license number and hit the "Submit" button. Update your "Mail-in Ballot Status" to make sure you get a mail in ballot and hit the "Submit Changes" button. Make sure your address is correct while you are at it. This should change your "Registration Status" to "active." Feel free to check.
