BMA ACTION ALERT
The County wants to hear from YOU
TOMORROW
Walker Ranch Management Plan
Open House
Do you ride Walker Ranch? Do you want to see an Eldorado Canyon to Walker connection happen in your lifetime? This meeting is an CRITICAL step in that direction.
THE PUBLIC PROCESS FOR
WALKER RANCH
STARTS NOW
The document that says who, what, where, when what happens in Walker Ranch was written 25 years ago, and hasn't changed since. The County correctly realizes that it's high time for an update! Toward that end, the County has mapped out a public process "focused on revising the existing Walker Ranch Management Plan to reflect the many changes to the area in and around Walker Ranch since the first plan was developed and approved. To that end the process will be focused on addressing new and evolving concerns, updating the existing document, and developing responses to emerging issues."
If you think mountain biking at or through Walker Ranch is an "evolving concern", it's time to show up.
show up at the PUBLIC OPEN HOUSE
At the open house, Boulder County Parks and Open Space (BCPOS) will present various facts, figures, and datum about Walker Ranch. The goal of this session is to tell the public what they know and hear from the public about what you know, want to know, want to see changed, and (drumroll please)... what you hope will be addressed in the plan. This open house is all about fact-finding.
Show up and have your say. Use the BMA talking points if you're not sure what to talk about.
BMA Talking Points
- THANK YOU for the Benjamin Trail, Picture Rock and Wild Turkey. I love these trails and the work BCPOS has done!
- Eldo to Walker Connection - make it happen! Spare me the details, just get it done!
- Get us off the roads and create trails in the same drainages
- Walker to West Mag connection - we want a Divide to Plains Trail*
- Bring the existing trail system to current sustainable standards
* A "Divide to Plains" trail is already a goal in the Boulder County Comprehensive Plan. The corridor is already identified on the map, and the Transportation Element in the plan puts this desire "in scope" for the County.
