Eight Days Left to Make a Difference!
Most of you know what is going down in the West Trail Study Area (if not, read more here). This is the access battle of a generation. According to Open Space Board of Trustees outgoing chair Bill Briggs, "It's about more than bikes." The Boulder Mountainbike Alliance couldn't agree more. BMA remains optimistic that mountain bikers can gain reasonable and responsible access to some trails in the West TSA, but city council needs to hear from you first. You must help dispel the myth that we are a bunch of adrenaline-fueled speed junkies with no concern for our families, our environment, and our community. Here's what BMA needs you to do TODAY
Your signature on this new petition goes a long way. What's the gist of the petition? "Dear City Council; It's high time to bring mountain bikers into the fold. Please accept us as citizens, as neighbors, and as the current and future open space stewards that we are."
Tell city council that you support bike access on Anemone Hill and on a north-south connector trail
. Tell them who you are, what you do for a living, why you love Boulder. Talk about your kids, talk about your desire to ride on trail without the use of a car, tell them why mountain biking is important to you. If you own a business, tell them how many people you employ, how much you contribute in sales taxes. Make your message personal, heartfelt, and above all... keep your message positive! If you know any council members personally, give them a call!
Write a letter to the Editor. If your letter to council is 300 words or under, consider sending it to the Daily Camera as a letter to the editor You must include your address and phone number to get a letter published. Be a ring leader. Ask 10 of your friends/colleagues to take just one of the above actions for this cause. Your call or conversation will mean more than just forwarding this newsletter. Reach out to your people 2-3 times between now and 3/15 to make a difference. And Email back if you are willing to act as a ring leader to your own crew.

March 15 - City Council Hears from YOU Regarding the West TSA Management Plan
Where: Boulder High School Auditorium
When: March 15 @ 6PM
Yes, it's going to be a circus. Not only will the bike detractors be there, but everyone else in Boulder who feels passionately about open space and recreation will be there in force as well. Not to worry, BMA has learned a few things during this process. We're doing our best to make the evening less a pain and more of a social event where mountain bikers get to represent! Rueben's Burger Bistro is teaming up with BMA to create a positive social environment and an opportunity to have your voice heard even if you can't stay long enough to put in your two cents. BMA will send out another Action Alert later this week with full details on how you can be a part of this climatic moment in mountain bike advocacy.

The Boulder Mountainbike Alliance wouldn't have gotten this far without YOU!
Just how far have we come? Check out this archive of news stories from over 20 years ago - some things haven't changed, but some good things have happened and will continue to happen. Thanks again for your support. Potential bike access to the West TSA has been some 4 years of effort on the part of folks at BMA, and it all comes down to your involvement. If you show up, we can win! If you want to get more involved, send us an email. We can use all the help we can get!
