Open Space Tax Passes By the Slimmest of Margins BMA's Endorsement Made a Difference
If you were watching closely, you have a few more gray hairs and your fingernails are history. Many of us went to sleep election night and woke up the next morning bummed out that this issue failed by less than one percent. As of November 16, 1B was up 743 votes. We thank those of you who took the time to vote and push this issue over the top.
We will be keeping a very close eye on the purchases that are surely are coming. And we look forward to working with Boulder County to make these last big purchases for the open space program make sense for the community, wildlife and recreation. We already have expansions to Hall and Heil Valley Ranches on the conveyor belt. Whether or not new access is part of the package remains to be seen, but rest assured we will be working it!
BMA thanks the voters of Boulder County for passing 1B!

Bike Patrol Continues!
| | Bike Patrol |
Have you considered helping out with the Bike Patrol? It's one of the easiest ways to volunteer: all you have to do is go ride your bike and talk with people you meet on the trail. While this year's patrol season winds down, we're hard at work on the 2011 season. Besides making our trails a friendlier place, there are a few other benifits. This past weekend, patrollers were invited out for a tour of Hall Ranch with the onsite caretaker Denny. Interested? We'll let you know when to sign up for next year.

Early Spring Opening
Work began November 15 on the last remaining segment of the Dirty Bismarck Loop. This section that will connect the Singletree Trail with the Coalton Road Trailhead will be an eight foot wide gravel fines ADA accessible trail. Yes, nothing to write home about, but it gets you off McCaslin Bvld!
Because of the stringent ADA requirements, the grade of the trail will make it meander through the open space, and more trail means more fun. Take a look at the trail alignment here. At this time of year, riding opportunities like these become very valuable to those of us who love dirt and the need to get miles ridden. The Boulder County Transportation Department, the agency that is managing this project, expects the project to take 80 good weather days to complete. If we are lucky, we'll be riding there before the big snows in March. |

Conditions Will be Variable
It should go without saying, but we'll say it again: Mind the trail conditions! This time of year, it could be 60 and sunny, or 20 and frozen, or 40 and muddy. If you know a trail will be muddy, consider riding somewhere else. If you come to mud or snow, stick to trail! Ride through puddles and any mud on the trail. |
