Over the last year, representatives from local bike clubs (including BMA) and IMBA have worked with wilderness advocates and Rep. Polis' office to create a land protection bill we all can support. After hundreds of hours of negotiation, we are close to agreement... close enough to bring this proposal in to the public spotlight for input.
So Close, So FRUSTRATING!
After resolving dozens of cycling concerns, all that remains are two issues, access to trails in Spraddle Creek and Basalt Mountain. We are so close to the finish line, it's time to show up, ask for these two tweaks to the bill and then support the proposal. Sadly, these issues could have been resolved weeks ago, but for unknown reasons the wilderness advocates have been unwilling or unable to make a decision and seal the deal.
We need YOU to SHOW UP!
Representative Polis will be at this meeting to hear our thoughts and input on this proposal. It should be noted that even during his campaign to get elected, Jared Polis has understood the need for broad based support of land protection bills. He has made good on his promise to make sure mountain bikers concerns are heard and integrated into any bill that he might support.
We are still nervous about the wilderness advocates, they need to see a strong showing of mountain bikers that will push them that last little bit and get this landmark agreement done.

See you there! |
