BMA was formed 18 years ago due to the total ban on Mt. Bikes in Boulder's mountain parks. The was the first, the most publicized and the longest running ban on bikes anywhere. Cyclists were banned by City ordinance in 1985 and reconfirmed in 1987. BMA and you, with thousands of hours of trail construction, education, and advocacy have changed the political landscape. But there is still more to do. Bikes are still banned on City Open Space land west of Broadway, north of Eldorado Springs Drive and south of Linden.
Now is the time to have a thoughtful and honest conversation about reasonable and sustainable access to City Open Space lands west of Broadway - the West TSA.
BMA advocates have been preparing for this critical meeting for over two years. We need you to help choose community representatives that will sit on a Community Collaboration Group (CCG). This group will meet over the next year to decide what the future holds for the West TSA. This group will decide if mountain bikes are a viable member of the user group mix.
If we don't get access through this process, it's likely that it will be decades before we can have this conversation again.
This meeting is going to be confusing and chaotic to anyone who has not been in the middle of this process. So, Jason Vogel and Mike Barrow will be outside the meeting location to give you the straight story on what you need to know and do. It is critical that you get to this meeting BEFORE the 6PM start time, as Jason and Mike will be going inside to participate.
BMA has been mountain biking's voice at the table for almost 20 years. Our current team of access advocates have never known a more important meeting where such far reaching decisions will be determined. If you care about better access for mountain biking in Boulder, this is THE meeting for you to attend. Tuesday evening, numbers in the room WILL matter. Please take time out of your busy life to take a critical step towards better access for Boulder residents.
