Wanted: SufferFest Volunteers
SufferFest needs you! If you don't feel up for the ride but still want to be part of SufferFest, then volunteer! We need folks to man the aid stations, collect registration forms at ride start, check riders back in at ride end, drive the gear shuttles, serve dinner or breakfast at camp, stock the bonfire, etc. - a little bit of everything. Most of these tasks will only require a few hours, leaving you lots of time for your own ride on Saturday. We also need a few select, dedicated individuals to either preride and flag the course on Friday, September 11th, or ride sweep behind all the SufferFesters on Saturday. If any of these tasks interest you, contact Andria at boulderfuzz@gmail.com. |

What is Sufferfest?
Sufferfest is a huge ride west of the Peak to Peak from Ned to Peaceful Valley. That's 50 miles of fantastic riding! Followed closely by adult refreshments and some sublim camping, and maybe if things turn out like last year, a powerbar hungry bear!
Mark your calendar for September 12th! Don't miss out this year! Register today! |

West TSA: Critical Meeting Want Bike Access? SHOW UP Sept 15
Ever wanted to ride from your front door to a trail? After 25 years of being banned from open space west of the city, we finally have our chance. More details to come, but the basics are these: - BMA needs your help on September 15th, 6-9pm at the East Boulder Community Center. Put it on your calendar!
- We need ONLY ONE evening of your time to set the stage for a reasonable community discussion about bike access.
- After years of controlling the planning process, the Open Space and Mountain Parks Department has decided to use a "community based" approach - that's why we need you - you are the community. If you are interested in helping represent mountain bikes or in helping to get open minded community members selected to represent other important interests, such as the environment, cultural resources, and adjacent neighborhoods, send Kevin Knight an email, and let him know you are interested. We have less than six weeks to ensure a positve outcome. Give the Boulder Mountainbike Alliance one evening of your time to bring mountain biking back into the mix of appropriate uses for our open space lands. |

Colorado Search and Rescue Card
Do you have one?
Face it, we ride over rocks and roots and the law of averages will eventually catch up with all of us and we will fall off our bikes. What happens afterward can be a full spectrum from jumping up and remounting our bikes like nothing happened, or not.
The Colorado Search and Rescue Card is your way of contributing to the programs that will come extract you from the forest. I have personally seen these people at work responding to injured cyclists on the trail, and they deserve our support. In some extreme cases, people have been billed for their rescue.
If you have a Colorado hunting or fishing licence, the CORSAR is included. For the rest of us, we can buy five years of coverage for $12. Buy one anywhere you can get a fishing or hunting licence! |
