West TSA: Critical Meeting Want Bike Access? SHOW UP Sept 15
Ever wanted to ride from your front door to a trail? After 25 years of being banned from open space west of the city, we finally have our chance. More details to come, but the basics are these: - BMA needs your help on September 15th, 6-9pm at the East Boulder Community Center. Put it on your calendar!
- We need ONLY ONE evening of your time to set the stage for a reasonable community discussion about bike access.
- After years of controlling the planning process, the Open Space and Mountain Parks Department has decided to use a "community based" approach - that's why we need you - you are the community. If you are interested in helping represent mountain bikes or in helping to get open minded community members selected to represent other important interests, such as the environment, cultural resources, and adjacent neighborhoods, send Kevin Knight an email, and let him know you are interested. We have less than six weeks to ensure a positve outcome. Give the Boulder Mountainbike Alliance one evening of your time to bring mountain biking back into the mix of appropriate uses for our open space lands. |

BMA Trail Posse @ Root Canal
Volunteers Needed August16, 26 and Sept 6
Over five years ago, the Travel Management Plan put together by the community and the USFS identified the need to move the Root Canal Trail from it's current alignment because it crosses private property twice. That being said, we have been working with the USFS to not only reroute this trail, we are creating something quite interesting and special to ride. What we are working on is definitely more fun and sustainable. Our years long partnership with the Boulder Ranger District has put us in a place of trust in our ability to create trails that are challenging, fun, and light on the land. These work parties are going to follow the posse format; teams will be small, and the work will be focused on getting getting this new trail done and open before the snow flies. And yes, we will be shutting down the existing Root Canal Trail after the new trail is open. Contact Duncan Wheeler to learn more and register. |
