Carole King Speaks Up  

for Wild Horses

Thanks to music legend Carole King for posting a link on her Facebook page to the American Wild Horse Preservation Campaign (AWHPC).  

Last year, Carole featured the stunning wild horse photography of Elissa Kline on her acclaimed "Troubadour Reunion" tour with James Taylor, bringing the plight of America's wild horses to sold-out, international audiences. Elissa is a talented photographer, committed wild horse advocate, and AWHPC supporter.  

This is "Stormy".  Welsh Pony X Thoroughbred Filly  Registered name Drumfields Scarlet O'Hara.

at Suncatcher Farm  

There's a new arrival at Green Creek's Suncatcher Farm, owned by Karim and Sue Shihata. The colt was born  April 15th.  His dam is Whitney's Star by Houston who is by Seattle Slew and the colt's sire is Petionville by Seeking the Gold.

Found Feather Farm's English Shire, Powerful Paul, was chosen for the 2011 Barnes and Noble 2011 Romancing the Horse cover. The photograph was taken by Mark Barrett. A stallion, the 2000 lb Powerful Paul stands at Found Feather Farm and is described as "a puppy."

New Sprout

TROT has been awarded a $4,000 grant from Asheville's Janirve Foundation, part of a larger grant to FENCE for the benefit of area children. (The remainder will be used to complete a renovation of the Animal Studies room at the FENCE Center). TROT will use the grant monies for its Ridership Fund to assist those who may have difficulty meeting the lesson fees.

 TROT is grateful for the support from Janirve, which targets programs improving health and educational opportunities for children and young adults in western North Carolina.
