LAST WEEK'S PROGRAM ~ Prevea

Guests: -- Dan Bateman of Spaceport, Tom Hartzell of Rotary West, Mary Hayward pending EB Rotarian, and our speaker Cindy with Red Cross

UPDATES:  Ed Morgan is home and asks that we donate to our favorite charity instead of more flowers and asks that we wait a bit before paying visits (emails can be handled at his pace).  Members were reminded of District Conference.

PROGRAM:  Cindy filled in for Travis of Red Cross and gave some exceptional information.   Just as businesses have had to make some tough decisions, so has the Red Cross.   They continue all of their core services, that include disaster relief, blood services, services to deployed service people and their families, international services as identified in the Geneva Convention, and their trainings such as CPR.  92% of funds raised are returned in servies and they have 32 volunteers for every paid staff person.  Red Cross has a 4 star rating with Charity Navigator. They continue to prevent -- prepare -- and respond.  Cindy referred to herself as a volunteer 'junkie'.   Cindy also commended Rotary for their work usinig Shelter Boxes and commented about the opportunity to work with the Red Cross in deployment of that resource.
