Greetings!
We all remember where we were 10 years ago on September 11th. I was managing 3 radio stations and was in the middle of a staff meeting with my management team when the receptionist interrupted us with the news alert we were receiving to broadcast. It is a day I will NEVER forget. We pre-empted all normal broadcasting to keep our listeners updated. I sent home unnecessary staff to be with their families. Personally, I tried to reach my son and his family by phone - impossible of course. But over the next days and weeks, all of us re-evaluated our priorities in life. I know I did! I became much more active in helping youth, co-chairing the Youth Agency Network, serving on the Prevention Policy Board, and the Every Family Matters Council. Soon after that time, I spent time in paid positions that address children, literacy and education. With a young lady that I mentored as an intern while in radio, we have recently gone EVEN deeper and more intensely into serving teenage girls. We hope you will follow us and enjoy the stories we will share.
That young lady, Cathy is my co-founder in this venture to help young teenage girls. We've both been there personally, we are both moms and now I'm even a grandmother - so we will share our stories and listen to those stories shared.
My question to you: This September 11th how will you, look inside and embrace your humanity and step out to Make a Difference? Sincerely, Char Pachniak Founder Horizons4Girls
