TWO WEEK'S AGO -- Guest: John Siegel of Alliant
Thanks extended to parade participants, Alex shared a GREAT fishing story with his dad. Our two students that we sponsored to World Affairs gave an exceptional program about their experiences. John Paul Darling is a Senior and Stuart Schmidt, a Junior. They both shared how the experience has given then a clearer understanding of their future goals & objectives and how they can make a difference. They shared with our membership some statistics of how we have been 'screwing up' the world and ways that they might be able to turn things around. They talked about how they could reach for peace through understanding. They explored discrimination and how important it was to be respectful of each other.
LAST WEEK -- Guests included: Peter ___, Sebastian's daughter and her friend ___. Past President Ann Rogers awarded a perfect attendance certificate to David Anderson and Scott Morrelle. Scott also received his President Elect pin. Sebastian Schmidt did a very informative presentation on Nicaragua, one of the countries that Rotary Foundation and Rotarians do work in. Sebastian Schmidt and Dave Anderson played a VERY moving video about a Rotarian that has done service in Nicarague, helping a blind person that is now halping other blind people, It is a true example of how Rotary and Rotary Foundation makes a difference.
