LAST WEEK'S PROGRAM--Two for the price of one--Tom gave an update on his professional development & Trevor did a classification talk.
Guests: none?
President Ann asked members to help John Rogers with the Lobster Boil appearances. She also reminded members of the changing of the guard this evening. Ann thanked those that helped with inventory. Gerry Plehn gave an update on the Holiday Lights promotion with all of the area Rotary Clubs. We reminded that the meeting on the 30th would include a Foundation meeting. We were also reminded to bring in groceries for Bridgeway and pop tops to give to various groups.
PROGRAM:
- Tom Ross shared how 4 years of flexible employment at River Wildlife has given him the opportunity to persue his career goal of being a firefighter. He is currently taking 17 credits to complete his EMT training. A challenge for anyone pursue this career is that each community has different requirements for their firefighters. He also shared with us the unusual responsibilities at River Wildlife, which has been assisting with hunting outings to currently helping to build a cabin on Garton Road.
- Trevor Irish gave a classification presentation. He explained how his mother wrote an essay 'What You Did At Grandmother's House' that won an award?? He told about how he and his siblings explored what electric fences did. Trevor went to college to be a teacher and worked in MPS. Trevor was in a rock band, had a doctor tell him to stop playing the drums or lose his arm and he took up playing the saw. He was unemployed when his brother asked him to join him at his business Dynamic Development where he works as a project manager. He made sure to let us knopw he was married in 2009.
